Two weeks to play a season - I'm slacking
2013/14 end of season update...
Chester City retained the league title in slightly more stylish fashion. Won it with two games to go - finishing 6 points ahead of Man U, with us both about 20 points clear of the chasing pack.
I can't even remember our league cup campaign. Our defence of the FA cup floundered at the first hurdle.
The Champions League is a longer story. Started both group stages with a defeat and a draw before rallying and grabbing the second qualification spot each time. Drew Bayern in the 1/4 finals. Nicked a 1-0 lead in the home leg, which was quickly turned around in Germany when Bayern went 2-0 up inside the first twenty minutes. However, on the stroke of half time they conceded a penalty (and had a player sent off in the process) which was duly tucked away. Chester ran out 4-2 (5-2 aggregate) winners.
Barcelona in the semis. Just under 10,000 of Chester's 22,000 seats were left empty for this obviously not very glamorous match :o. Barcelona came to defend and snatch a goal on the break. It seems the fans had the right idea - only 4 shots in the whole game (0 for Chester

) and a 1-0 Barcelona victory. Managed to return the complement at the Nou Camp, and so after 210 minutes of football it came down to penalties. Which we won \o/.
So the home of Scottish Division 3 side Queens Park was the venue for Chester City V Roma, for the title of 2014 European Champions. A routine 2-0 Chester win meant that the European Cup was on it's way to the Deva Stadium.
So, time to move on to pastures new? Well it needs to be the right job. As Iajafer has said elsewhere on this forum, would it be realistic for me to move straight back down to the conference? Currently I'm ranked #1 in England and #12 in the world. I couldn't justify taking a job at a new team with 5 players and no coaches on the back of the season that I've just had. Got offered the Arsenal job, but I'm not moving to another EPL team. Quite fancied West Ham (Div 2) as their manager was "very insecure" over the summer, but they've had a good start to the season and his job is now safe. I'll be keeping my eyes peeled and will change clubs when a suitably interesting (and justifiable) job comes up.
Applied for Italy and Brazil after the World Cup (won by the Argies), but got neither.
