:o
I forgot about
Eligibility and realistic signings in the Spanish Leagues.
Eligibility
Spain is a league with closed registration numbers. What does that mean? It means you can't go on signing frenzy as you'll only be able to play a certain number of players in your books.
For
2nd Division B you can only register 22 players for the senior team (6 of whom must be U23). If you're lucky enough to have a B team you'll also have permission to register 25 players more (who'll also be able to play for the A side if they haven't played a match in the last 48 hours). Players U18 and registered for the U18 team will be able to play for the A and B team if they haven't played a match in the last 48 hours.
However, you'll never be able to have more than 6 players from B and/or U18s in your A team match selection. There's another rule used IRL that I don't know if it has been implemented to FM:
Unless a B Team or U18 player has played 10 matches during the regular season or he has played the last 6 matches straight, no player of the B and U18s will be allowed to play in the last 10 matchdays.
Exceptions to that rule have been granted for teams that suffered heavy injury crisis that prevented them from choosing a full match squad, but that's it.
All your players in 2nd B must be EU-players, so no fancy signings down there (we'll cover this later, don't panic).
2nd Division sees an increase of 3 players in your senior team ranks. You can have up to 25 players registered. To those players you can also add the B Team (if you have one) and U18s.
You can have up to 2 non-EU players registered in 2nd Div.
If you ever manage to get to the mighty heights of
1st Division you'll get another non-EU spot, making your tally reach 3. Same rules exposed for 2nd Division and 2nd B apply for B-Team and U18s.
Player signing and realistic scouting in Spain 2nd Division B
Although you'll be able to play EU players at this level, usually most teams don't bother signing Johnny Foreigners at this level. They're not worth the hassle (language bareer and adaptability issues). Even most clubs will restrict themselves to scout locally (their own group and perhaps some teams from bordering groups).
2nd Division
Here hell breaks loose. You go from scout locally to scout globally. Even though you must somewhat respect your economy limitations. South Americans are the trend. Africans are also quite wanted around specially after an African Nations tournie has been made. East Europeans are always en vogue. Add ageing EU-players and spanish ones and you quite got the picture.
1st Division
Must something be said about top flight? Well, it's quite obvious isn't it?
You must observe the team RL history if you go to one who's been there for a while. Everybody knows about Barça's obsession for Dutchies and Brazilians or Valencia's for Argies and French players...
It was quite a good article, pity that work got in the way and the last 2 bits have been made after I lost my focus
