It is. There is an assessment for every situation, it seems. 1860 weren't allowed to play certain matches in their old stadium last year for example due to security risks (against Dresden for example, because they like to bring hooligans.)

This overregulation stuff in Germany is driving me sick. You won't believe it how hard it is just to make sure you pay your taxes. (and not too much. And not too little).

I can't believe I'm doing actual research on Fortuna Dusseldorf's stadium costs but I am
Apparently the stadium was a tremendous mistake to build in the first place and it's losing tons of money. However, regarding the football club as one of the entities renting the place, it's not quite as grim. I couldn't find a concrete number that the club has to pay in rent, but what I did find is the number that the stadium owner was calculating for the rent over an entire year: 6.6 million Euro. Now, the Westdeutsche Zeitung (sorry, German only) claims that this estimate is ludicrous because there aren't enough rock bands playing. They also say the city pays 1.79 mio of that.
So what does this impressive research tell us (besides Dale having too much time)? Well I might be wrong and maybe it's more complex than this, but it looks to me like whatever the club is paying for rent can't be more than a couple of million a year.

Got an update on the whole stadium cost debate. I stand by my initial statement that it's entirely unrealistic. The exact cost to rent the stadium is not being publicly revealed, but according to Fortuna's financial manager Sterhenn, the club starts turning a profit once attendance surpasses 5000.

The 900k debt Ollie mentioned earlier are not due to outstanding rental costs, but a loan by the stadium provider some time ago. This was disputed in the courts and things are pretty messy, but either way it has nothing to do with the cost of renting the stadium.

So while Dusseldorf are indeed in poor financial shape, they're not racking up a 500k loss per month, and the stadium costs aren't nearly this extreme.

I feel like I know a lot more about this club now than I ever wanted to
