By the way - When the old Düsseldorf stadium was demolished, all the stuff and rubble in there was sold to interested supporters to get some cash into the empty bags. I've heard of selling off the pitch before. But stadium rubble? |

No, the club doesn't own the stadium. It's actually a complex story that the city and the independent trust company are battling in court over, but the football club is just renting. And they're just one of many. It's a multi-function arena with many uses, the American Football team Rhein Fire plays their home matches there, plus they have large Arena rock festivals and exhibitions. As Ollie said, they're not even playing every match there, so that's what, 1-2 games a month, how much could that possibly cost?
All this level of detail is obscuring the simplicity of the original point however. The problem is simply that this club is not balanced.

| You seem to know a different real life than the people in Düsseldorf. They are at the verge of bankrupcy. Mainly because of 900k Euro in stadium wages they haven't paid yet. Also, in order to cover costs, a local punk band is sponsoring them and also fans and supporters are collecting for the club in order to see it survived.
</BLOCKQUOTE>
Exactly, now compare these figures to the ones the original poster and myself were describing. Unlike a 900k debt, the club is racking up 500k a month in the game. And instead of a local punk bank trying to ease the pain, the game reacts by giving a 5 million cash injection. Is this really so difficult to understand why this sucks?

you said it yourself. 900k for only a couple of games. Do the maths. If 900k are for 3 games, how much is it for 17 home games?
It's one thing to whine around that it's too easy with a team. But it's not unrealistic, unfortunately. I can't help it that the German Regionals are full with teams that have big stadiums, are always close to bankrupcy but then get bailed out by various people. You don't have to like it. But it's realistic. Not in every aspect, since it's a game, but it would be more unreal if clubs like that would NOT be bailed out.
I really don't get it - every time a new FM comes out, people are complaining and whining. This isn't realistic, that's not realistic, some other thing is too realistic (for example if their favourite team is not only crap in life but also crap in the game), and what so on. It's a game, ffs. Get over it.

| Nowhere did you mention this was for 3 games. I assumed this is a running cost from whenever the stadium opened (which was in January I think). If D'dorf are really leaking this kind of money IRL I would be shocked but would retract my statement that it's unrealistic (but why would they want to play in that stadium and not at Paul Janes if it doesn't make financial sense?).
That doesn't make them any better to manage tho. Quote: |

| I just pretend this rant wasn't directed at me because it wouldn't make any sense if it was.

| It's outstanding debt. They have paid quite a lot of the cost already, but those 900k are still missing. Stadium rent is immensely expensive in Germany.
Borussia Dortmund are paying 15 million Euro per year as stadium rent. The stadium is about twice as large as the Düsseldorf LTU Arena. Immense costs. Quote: |

| Because the other stadium is crap and doesn't fulfill some necessary requirements. Stupid laws in Germany. Last season for example, 1860 Munich played their games in their old stadium in the Grünwalder Strasse. They were only allowed to do so because it was only for one year - they got an exception from the town. Nevertheless, they had to invest a couple of millions first to meet some requirements. It was still less expensive than the rent for the Olympic Stadium, so they did it nevertheless. Quote: |

That makes sense, but they are playing some games in that stadium. So do they only have permission for a limited number of games there? That would be a really stupid law indeed.
