I don't see what about the playoff system allows you more time to adjust to a division. It actually gives you an increased chance of promotion (you can do it by finishing 1st, 2nd, 3rd or 4th) and a slightly decreased chance of relegation.

This new playoff system should allow more time for a time to adjust to a new league.
mkus, I think you misinterprete the should in the sentence above. To me it sounds like something a new system should do but doesn't.

Sorry, I didn't express what I meant very well.

As a manager in say the first division, if you finish 9th and you go into the playoffs, you stand a chance of staying up in the first division. This could allow more time for you to adjust to a new division.

Might be unpopular but i like the idea of teams being replaced, and hope it a feature in the next FM. Perhaps Clydebank could claim back there rightfull place back in Scotlands elite

Scottish Football league 1st & 2nd division

bottom team automatically relegated, 2nd bottom team enters a playoff against the teams finishing 2nd-4th in the division below

format

2nd bottom team plays fourth placed team of division below

teams from division below
2nd plays 3rd

both ties are over two legs (away goals count)

the winners of these playoffs face each other in a one off game at hampden park (winner goes up or stays up as the case may be)
------------------------------------------
There's a flaw in the rules there IIRC, although given that hardly anyone knows what they actually are (and I'd inlude players and managers in that), it's not too surprising. AFAIK the final is also played over 2 legs, with away goals counting, and isn't a one-off match at a neutral venue.

Ah yes, that's true. Hoping to get to know the playoffs a bit better, but losing against a team with 4 points two thirds into the season ain't the way to do it

I've never figured out how the SPL worked as I've never played ther myself, so had a guick google.

Perhaps you know how it works, but anyway, here is it:
Quote:
:The Scottish Premier League will consist of 12 clubs
for the first time this season, with a split after 33 games.

uring the first phase of the season, each team will play every other club {3} times either once at home and twice away or twice at home and once away.

:After that first phase, each club will have played either 16 home games and 17 away games or vice versa.

:The league will then split into two sections.

:The top six clubs {6}
will play each other once more, a total of five {5} games, to compete for the championship and Uefa qualification.

:The bottom six clubs {6}
will also play each other once more, a total of {5} games, to retain Premier status for season 2001 / 2002 and each season thereafter.

oints achieved during the first phase will be carried forward to the second phase but the teams will compete only within their sections during the second phase.

:The teams in the bottom section can finish no higher than seventh {7th} in the league.

:On completion of the second phase, clubs will have played 38 games.

Don't think that can happen as Clydebank are a juniour team now so i don't think are a SFA member club. When they folded they started off new as a juniour team. I guess theoretically they could apply to be an sfa club. The only juniour team with sfa membership is Girvan as they use to play in the south of scotland league but have now joinedthe juniour ranks but retained their sfa membership so they are in fact the only juniour team that can play in the scottish cup.
