Background:

I personally enjoy revitalising the big'ish clubs that have hit hard times - and possibly theres not many bigger playing in their lowest level (on FM) other than Dusseldorf.

Former Cup Winners Cup Finalists and German Champions, Dusseldorf are playing in a level that makes me cry

1 constant for me, is to stay with Dusseldorf for as long as they want me - i have no interest in leaving for either another club or country, so you may get bored of a lengthy life in ze'germen leagen...

Notes:

Wrapped up promotion with around 6 games left. Pretty much a gimme after being given a huge 5,000,000 cash injection to spend on players in January. Signed some top flight cast offs, and made sure we survived the loss of our top scorer in January to Freiburg.

Season Two

Bundesliga II:

18th P34 W6 D6 L22 F45 A76 Pts24

German Cup:

2nd Round - (H) 0-1 aet Frankfurt

Notes:

Lost our top center half in the summer, as the debts came back to haunt me. Other biggish earners also moved on, leaving me a bit threadbare, but still capable of doing OK.

However, our 1st league game was a 5-0 stuffing in Bochum, followed up by 7 straight losses. We managed to scrap some points together, but never looked capable of surviving.

Come January i let players go to save the club some cash (at this stage over 1.5million in debt) and we soon lost our Bundesliga II status by the end of March. 4 wins from our last 5 gave us some respect, but we ended up 18 points adrift of safety.

Season Three (07/08)

(Promoted, as 2 '2nd' sides finished above me)

1st Round - (H) 1-2 Wolfsburg

Notes:

More fire sales to even the bank (sort of) but we did acquire our former top scorer back (ex-Freiburg) and the star center half lost at the start of last year... on the cheap.

Always a big fish in this league, still a bit too much money going out on wages, but we looked comfortable most of the year. However a major blip in the final month, meant we needed a win at Wattenscheid to clinch promotion - we managed it 3-1, and secured 4th and a promotion slot to boot.

Ive not acquired any bosmans this year, and we will rely on 3/4 kids that have recently been promoted into the system :thup:

maybe it was 4th, and there was an Amateur side in the top three (they can't be promoted).

I think with the 3rd/4th thing, I think that he means that a win against Wattenscheid guaranteed he would finish 4th, and therefore a promotion slot because of the two reserve sides in the top two.
