I was just playing my game in the second season, wishing that Univ. Craoiva had gone up last season - instead, they're in my division as the only real competion.
This got me thinking. Last season, I played Univ. Craoiva in the last game of the season and because they only got a point against me, they finished outside of the promotion/play off spots by one point when three would have guaranteed promotion. At the time, I was glad to deny a team this, because it said a lot for the quality of my team.
However, had I been thinking straight, I would have pegged out Craoiva as being one of the leading teams for next term - the team that actually went up, Astra, were nowhere near as good: a point that was proven when my kids beat them in the cup this year.
My question is this: if you were in such a situation, knowing that it was your decision whether to send a team up or not, and knowing that they were the strongest of the available teams - would you throw the game intentionally in order to maximise your chances for the following season?
I'm still unsure whether I would have or not: my ethics tell me otherwise, but after all, I am playing in a corrupt league where games are thrown all the time IRL...
