I couldn't do it with quick start so I followed the directions posted in the challenge thread. England only, small database, etc...could that have made the difference?

I sent him out and he came back with 44 suitable...all crap, of course...and only 2 were willing to sign (half were with other clubs so I couldn't bother to try). Hope I didn't do something wrong.

but;er something must be wrong with the quickstart as im usign that and my scouts have only found 5 players of any quality.

I started the challenge as well with Glyn's suggested settings, and my scout is doing okay. He found maybe 15-20 players in 6 months. Interestingly, almost all of them were willing to sign (that would be a great improvement in scouting).

As for availability of the players found: most of them were club contracted but transfer listed for really low prices. I really hope that the times when a scout would return with "Hey, look, I watched a couple of Champions League games and there were some good players..." while being in the Conference North/South are over.

millwall...you must be right.

cosmo....I would agree with it being more realistic. Although 44 in 3 months is a bit much, they were either on a free or very low value.

see cosmo is even more proof that the quickstart has really a limited amount of players.

Still ive managed to buy 6 or 7 players . Is it alright to play matches for frendlies at the start of the season to play conference north south etc reserve teams to see how players who they want to get rid of and if you see someone useful sign them.

yeh,maybe start with another conference north etc team but allowing normal or large database

i have like 6 scouts and they have found only 2 players which are of reasonable quality
