Hi everyone. I am new to LLM, having managed in the top divisions for all the previous incarnations of FM's.

I have read all of your rules on how to be a LLM and they make perfect sense and will hopefully enhance the game for me.

I was just wondering which clubs in the conference North/South are 'blacklisted'

Please be aware that I don't want any tips here as to which club to start with, but want to make sure that I don't get a forbidden club.

Thanks for you time.

Because you're a new LLMer and you're starting afresh, there's no LL Clubs are banned to you, per se.

Someone like me, an auld, jaundiced, dyed-in-the-wool dinosaur LLaMa would steer clear of certain Clubs, but for a new guy they're all fair game, indeed they're recommended to blood you in to the trials and tribulations of LLaMa-dom.

Pick a team, any team...don't show the audience...

But who is on the blacklist (or who should be?). I've been practising the art of LLM for years now (only just found this section due to not being a regular SIGames visitor) and the rules/guidlines you suggest are more or less the same ones I enforce on myself anyway.

It's been suggested elsewhere to "trust Frank" which seems sensible enough advice but I just wondered if there was an "official" blacklist of banned clubs (wouldn't want to pick one by accident).

The only one that we're aware of currently is Weymouth (bear in mind 06 hasn't been out that long).

In 05 it was Gretna. In earlier incarnations it was Hull, Rushden & Diamonds, Fiorentina Viola etc.

River Plate are always frowned upon.

There's no official list.

Michal has noticed that Weymouth are unusually successful in FM2006.

In my savegame, third season, they won the Conference South in 2006 and the FA Trophy in 2007...doesn't seem too outlandish to me, tbh.

In the past Hull City, Peterborough, Rushden and similar teams have been deemed too easy for LLaMas to play, but it goes down to self-respect.

If you play Weymouth you won't be kicked out of LLM, you may take a good-natured slagging, but as long as you play in the Spirit and Ethics of LLM then you'll be safe.

It's not that they win Conference South in season one, Ian, it's that they do it in multiple saves and by a ridiculous margin.

....and as such seem an excellent choice for a new LLaMa. (or even a grizzled old crap one)

note: I have never began and will never begin a game as manager of Weymouth, but it would be nice, just the once, not to have to struggle to avoid relegation and bankruptcy.

ok guys, thanks to everyone who has answered on here.

I have decided to take charge of the mighty St Albans, seen as how they are closest, geographically to me.

One last question. I know that I can only sign players that I have scouted, but is it ok to send a scout out to watch different clubs to see what their players are like. For example I have no transfer budget at St Albans, can I send a scout out to say Tonbridge, who are not even in the conference and see if they have any decent players? Thanks.
