They're certainly one to keep an eye on, Michal. The fact they won Conference South then didn't even make the playoffs in their second season keeps them out the Gretna camp for me, tbh.

We'd better watch the bar-stewards.

I have decided to take charge of the mighty St Albans, seen as how they are closest, geographically to me.

One last question. I know that I can only sign players that I have scouted, but is it ok to send a scout out to watch different clubs to see what their players are like. For example I have no transfer budget at St Albans, can I send a scout out to say Tonbridge, who are not even in the conference and see if they have any decent players? Thanks.
Is it realistic?

Your answer to that will guide you, Padawan...

As far as I am concerned you can send scouts to any team in England, Scotland, Ireland and Wales, but the thought that you might just be sending your scouts to Tonbridge because IRL you happen to know that there is a canny player there, is not in the spirit of LLM.

I must admit, I have never tried scouting all the individual clubs in England, I rely on sending my scouts on a general look around the country in the hope that he notices (or hears about) players who may suit my team.

That's the bit that ****es me off. I don't want them recommending me someone 'cos their mate mentioned them in the pub, yet you always get the "Scout X has heard that Player Y might be a good signing". Heard and might? No use to me, pick up your P45 on the way out.

I can understand scouting your next opposition as you progress through the leagues and have more scouts at your disposal but I would agree with Church, when in the lower leagues you are better of being more general than pin pointing a particular club.

Mmmm, given me something to think about, iajafer, you have.

Don't know wheteher it is realistic or not. Do real life managers send scouts out to look at particular clubs?

Church, thanks for your thoughts. I don't know any players below conference level, in fact I don't know any players in the conference (doh!), was just thinking that I might be able to afford some players below confernce level.

You may be able to afford players from below conference level, but you might not be able to afford players who are below conference level.

Isn't English a wonderful language.
