As I've mentioned previously, the forum header needs to be placed in a bold, huge font, and people should have to click through it in order to get to the forum itself. That would eliminate many of the problems with new arrivals breaking the rules.
They just don't know any better, because most people simply ignore any sort of text at the top of a web page and move on to what they're looking for, which, in this case, are the forum postings. But, if you make it impossible to ignore the forum header, then life will probably be a lot less volatile for all involved.
As it is now, the newbies inevitably break the rules without knowing them, and the backlash they receive drives them away or turns them against the potential benefits of LLM. Personally, I think there can be a better balance between the two extremes. I agree that there shouldn't be player naming, tipping, bragging, and that sort of thing on the forum. However, I have noticed that the discussions here have been pretty limited and boring over the past year or two.
I think it would be nice if there could be an unofficial topic or some way to bring the newbies on board and allow them to discuss a few tips or ideas in general terms, without polluting the rest of the LLM forum.
What do the mods think about this? What if we start an official newbie topic, where the new arrivals can get up to speed with the rules and maybe learn a few things about LLM before they dive into the LLaMa lifesytle completely?
