When you're playing on FM08, what style of management do you adopt? Are you like, for example, Sir Alex Ferguson, who doesn't let any one player become bigger than the club, and isn't afraid to tell players exactly what he thinks of them, even if it is in private and behind closed doors?
Or are you a Fabio Capello who governs with an iron rod and woe betide anyone who dare step out of line
Or maybe you're more placating and understand, and willing to make allowances depending on the player.
Or indeed are you a Jose Mourinho, who plays to the media, winds up the opposition and blows his own trumpet?
Personally, I tend to blend all things together. I don't interact with the media too often, apart from when they approach me. That is, I won't release comments prior/post games about my opposite numbers.
FM allows you to be your own boss: so what is your style?
Im pretty much like you.I dont like to talk to press too often, only when its really2 neccessary.I dont like the player to become bigger than a club too,but its hardly happen to my players. And I use the same approach as Wenger cause I always give chance to my youth/younger players to step up and show what they can do.I always buy youngsters and like to build my team up from scracth.I dont like buying expensive players,I wont pay for more than 15mill for good players.
I tend to be quite a loyal manager - I like to try to stick with existing players for as long as possible, even when they start declining and become no good in the first team. I also buy young, but since in this game you have less of an idea who will be good and who will be bad, I buy lots of youngsters.
If a player in my first team is unhappy, I always try to fix it - it's a lot easier than having to buy a whole new player.
I think I sit somewhere between Sven Goran Eriksson and Sir Alex Ferguson. On the one hand, I never say anything inflammatory to the media. I take a calm and considered approach to everything I do.... Until matchday. If the players aren't performing, even if they happen to be winning, they know about it.
I've taken to rarely talking to the media. 'No comment' is usually my answer to just about anything as I get sick of players overreacting to an innocuous comment about this or that.
If a player plays badly I warn him, if he reacts well to it, he stays in the team, if he thinks he's been treated unfairly, he's dropped. I tend to give my players a rollicking at half-time/full-time if they're not playing how I want them to play.
It's amazing how often a good rollicking seems to work. I wonder if it has anything to do with squad mentality and the personality of your players. I suppose it must do.
Public - encourage players, take the positives, Angry against blatant bad decisions etc
Private - Encourage still but anyoe steps out of line will fine them for stupidity (Straight Red) and relgate to reserves even my best players becuase of thier stupidity.
