How can I get the best out of my 'poaching' striker?
Basically, I've got one striker who is ideal for target man who I think I know how to get the best out of, then I have my other striker who is reasonably quick but I have problems getting him into good posistions.
For instance I would like him to try and beat the offside trap and get inbetween defenders to create one on one opportunities. D'ya reckon I should set Forward Runs to Often or Mixed? What about tackling, through balls etc. etc.
And how can I stop him from drifting to the flanks? I want him to stay in the centre but no, he keeps drifting out wide in unthreatening postitions.
This advice is by no means definitive. If this was me making the decision:
Mentality 10-11: therefore, he keeps in his position
Passing: Short, you want him laying the ball off and then turning the defender and running with the ball
Closing down: Mixed, his stamina is quite good for a player of his calibre.
Tackling: Easy
Creative Freedom: 13 or so
Forward runs: Mixed
Run with ball: Mixed
Long shots, cross, TTB: Rarely
i think the best thing to do with quick strikers is not to expect the to be at the right place at the right time every time. I am crap at getting my strikers to score more than 25 goals a season no matter who i have, but i find my quickest strikers are usually forced to run wide on through balls so i encourage them to cross often from the byline and your attacking mids should get a few more than normal. Rather than the little runt wasting chance after chance from any angle.
yea like for example i've got caeser delgado as my fast striker on the left. for some freak reason he has crossing at 20 while finishing at 19 dribbling at 20 so as dava said i get him crossing to the target man who plays on the right. he ended up second top scorer and top assists, top scorer was my target man
