Rep Power: 0 | well the first thing to say is, make sure the playmaker is the MC (DM) - not the MC (AM)- I can se some users making this mistake
Re: attributes - passing is obviosuly good - but not as important as positioning - I found this out the hard way - I played a DM with passing of 20 and he didnt do nearly as well as one with 18 but with better positioning
Also a high off the ball seems to help.
Obviosult the usual plamaker attributes such as creativity and flair should be up there, as well as teamwork etc
Good luck

Looks good initially.
I have tried creating my own tactics and using others but have failed miserably. I'd really like to get this one working.
Looking at the tactic I see that you use global settings for most of the players mentality and passing.
Do you change these every game? If so what determines your choice of settings? Do you take note of the scout?
I have read Cleons thread and tried creating tactics where I only need to change the global mentality but have always failed.
So what I really need to know is do your settings change when you are away from home? Do they change during the game and when the opposition go 4-2-4? How do you beat 4-4-2 Counter attack.
I have my ideas from Cleons thread but they don't always work for me.

hi RedBlue
No I change nothing at all for anygame - the only change I sometimes make is, if the nominated header of the ball is injured, (I use the right DC as he has 20 for heading) then I assign the nea post flick ons at attacking corners to the next best header.
I sometimes crank up the mentality if Im a goal down at 80 minutes, but more often than not Im ok

FAO redblue -
And on the subject of creating tactics - I have made a couple of tactics which have worked on fm 2007 - and I agree its hard
This is one of the reasons I really like this game - theres no magiv formation to win every game
The technique is use may be useful to you, perhaps not, but here it is in stages
a- decide on the positions (without arrows and set it up) without any additional options such as playmaker set - leave all these blank - but assign corner takers, captains etc
b - start a game and play through to the very start of the first match of the season - at the 'go to match' stage
c - save two games one as as 'MyGame_SeasonStart' and then afterwards, one as 'MyGame'
d - play a single match - examine the results - especially the central midfield passes/complete and any other key areas
e) load the 'MyGame'
e) - make a change - such as setting the runs (arrows) for the wide midfielders or perhaps setting a playmaker etc etc - and play the game again
f) if the results are significantly better and you can be fairly sure this is down to your change, then you want to stick with it - load up 'MyGame', save it immediately, then make a further adjustment
You can carry on this way, replaying the same game over and over, and watch the tactic develop (or not) - once you think you have the foundation - move onto the next game - and repeat the process
DONT be tempted to just carry on because you won the game - remember the objective is to improve the performance, not win the game
If the formation suddenly falls apart and you get exposed by a formation that counters it, then you always have the SeasonStart_MyGAme to reload
takes a while - but its better than making adjustments and not knowing the affect they've had on the results, or worse still, making wrong assumptions.
hope this is a little help

thanks socks.
I did create a 4-4-2 Diamond and it was great. I won 4-0 and 5-0 before my best ever 8-0 result but then it completely fell apart.
I'm using the tactics at the moment with a LL team (Stalybridge) and am now in my 5th season. I have been in the playoffs twice but that's it.
Would you reduce the Creative Freedom for such a team?
I have what I feel is now a good squad with lots of pace.

yes thats a good idea but aim to keep the creative freedom reasonable for the DM - get as good as player in the DM position as possible as nothings going to happen without him

Mmmmmmn things not going as smoothly as I'd hoped, after beating Chelsea in the community shield I lost my 1st PL game to Arsenal 0-3 although the score did flatter them as it was about equal possession throughout and I had about 15 shots on goal (which can't be bad for an away game against a top team) just couldn't convert any of my chances. Next up was my CL qualifier 2nd leg - finished 0-0 but once again had something like 20 shots on goal but couldn't score.
I have Eddie Johnson coming in now who hopefully will plunder me a few goals...
Next up Man Utd away (groan!!)

Last game I played last night before switching off was a very rewarding 3-2 win over Man Utd at Old Trafford....! it was a classic smash and grab.
Thankfully my next 2 games are at home against slightly weaker teams.....
But the tactic is looking good, I can accept the 5 goals conceeded in my 2 opening games given that it was Arsenal and Man Utd, I don't expect to conceed that money too often.

Wow you play games very slowly - you must do a lot of things imbetween games!
I manage a season every week, but I have a system where I do all the admin such as contracts, transfers etc all in one go, then I can more or less just concentrate on the games - I usually manage about 12-15 games in an evening.
Everyone has a different appraoch howeverm and everyone has different time available!
When my first child arrives I expect time will be a more precious commodity!
You progress sounds good - ont hethe subjext of arsenal - they are the hardest to stop in europe i think - espeically from 2010 onwards - their youth team is great, and worth plundering, ifgthe players will leave!
