Tactics & Training Tips

It's no use having a squad full of star players without a decent way for them to play their football.

Default Closing out a game

Can anyone give me a tactic that is good for closing out a game, I am sick of losing two and three goal leads in the final twenty minutes.

once you have a basic 'shut up shop' tactic that suits your team (there are many threads in here which touch on that subject, read experts like wwfan etc, i'm not only not going to explain it by my version would be a mere watering down of other people's ideas), i find that sending your strikers on 'sarrows' (side arrows, out toward the wings) spreads the already-thin defense. if you're playing a flat 442 you might want to put a farrow (forward arrow) on the attacking center midfielder. not everyone agrees on the arrows, but as far as i know everyone agrees on one thing:

generally, defend. attacking an all-out attack will be a disaster. if you set up a good defense then you will have enough of an advantage that you'll likely score on the break.

Simple just make a few tweaks like slow the tempo right down, closing down on rarely, put your width on narrow, ps - put the bar right down on those three and finally put your time wasting right up to the top on much. Its worked for me great mate, goodluck

In my opinion, it's not exactly "closing down" that is the issue, more "positional awareness" of players closing down if that makes sense.
