once you have a basic 'shut up shop' tactic that suits your team (there are many threads in here which touch on that subject, read experts like wwfan etc, i'm not only not going to explain it by my version would be a mere watering down of other people's ideas), i find that sending your strikers on 'sarrows' (side arrows, out toward the wings) spreads the already-thin defense. if you're playing a flat 442 you might want to put a farrow (forward arrow) on the attacking center midfielder. not everyone agrees on the arrows, but as far as i know everyone agrees on one thing: generally, defend. attacking an all-out attack will be a disaster. if you set up a good defense then you will have enough of an advantage that you'll likely score on the break.
