Tactics & Training Tips

It's no use having a squad full of star players without a decent way for them to play their football.

Default How to beat Arsenal?

I am playing with Liverpool using a brilliant tactic called Garrards 4-1-3-2 courtesy of DiscoStu94 but I get spanked off Arsenal all the time and lose stupid games to teams like Derby. If I could win these games I think I would win the league after finishing 3rd this season.

Any ideas?

What does your scout report say? believe it or not they have a big influence on the team, they are not there to look pretty.

Oh.........I've not been getting them sent to me. Is that a bad thing? Right well I will sort that out. Whenver I play them they just play brilliant fast flowing football and my team can't cope.

Yeah, it'll say something like they like to play possesion football and their midfield are creative etc.

I think they're the hardest team to beat because of thier pace in attack (and because of Henry/Vela combo). The only way I have ever beat them is by playing quick, direct, narrow, down both flanks, counter attacks. Somwtimes I barrow fullbacks aswell.

Now sometimes this works quite effectively but other times they just seem unbeatable and turn you over. I was on a six match winning streak and they just casually turned me over 7-1 despite me having 5 or 6 clean sheets in a row.

I agree with Crazy_T that it is very effective having barrows on your fullbacks. I usually play a defensive mentality against teams such as arsenal with counter attack ticked and a deep defensive line

I personally dont find a real problem against Arsenal, ive only lost 2 games to them in 3 seasons and 1 of them was in the League cup final, when im away to them i just change my "Home" tactic to a more slower paced short passing tactic and i can often grab 1 on the counter, if not then by 60mins or so i change the pace and attacking and it seems that they dont like the sudden up in pace and thats when i often score the winner or to get a draw

err...this is probably a coincidence, but I made a formation called Gerrad 4132 also a while back, the url

http://www.fmunderground.net/fmu/index.php?fmu=6_3_277&...cae6cf75a143eab42581

I assume that Stu's is different! But can anyone look at both formations??

Im sure its just a coincidence

I had problems with Arsenal in my game, (had - Wenger has made some odd transfers and they are not that difficult anymore).

Arsenal had been the only team that I changed my formation to play - switching to a 442 and setting the MCs fairly defensive. I put my best marking and tackling MC to man mark Fabregas. Worked.

However, Arsenal sometimes played 433 with Henry on the left wing...Henry abused my defenders from the wing...glad AI Wenger stopped that one!
