I started a game with my favourite team, Atlético Madrid, and i enjoyed a good start. I share the experience, that i recieved during playing, and hope it will help somebody out, or somebody notices some mistake, that i made. I'm in my first season, and i'm unbeaten after 27 games with 8 draws. I only signed Eddie Johnson in January, because Mista and Agüero were injured for months, and because i had no money
I know, that atletico has quality players, but i think even with a very good team is hard to be a champion. I played with 7.0.2 patch.
i readed Cleon's Sheff. Untd. project, everything that i wrote here, is writed there,
so this is just some proof, that everything that Cleon wrote is right.
My scout didn't tell me anything about my opponents mentality, so i suppose, it's normal.
Because i'm playing at home i will set my team's mentality to 10. If i would play away, i would
set it on the first notch of normal (7). Asmini (my scout) tells that Celta don't plays particular passing style, and like to mix around a bit. So i will set my passing style, and tempo to mixed (10). The report says, that they have a dangerous header (Fernando Baiano), and we
need to defend deep. If i set my defensive line too deep, the header will be too close, and could score easily with his head, but they have a fast forward too (Guayre), so i will set my defensive line on the first notch of normal (6). It's important, to use opponent instructions too. Always clos down, and show weaker foot on wingers, and on fast attackers. If there's a player in AMC position, it's important
to man mark him, with our DMC especially when the opponent plays with two strikers.
I leaved the rest of the settings as it was vs. Celta. I only raised the passing style to direct (12), and lowed my defensive line down to 3 because of the pace of Gil. I set Maniche to man mark the AMC (Irirzun).
After 2 minutes Agüero scored, and Gimnástic changed immediatly to the hated 4141. So i rased my mentality to attacking (17), raised my defensive line tho normal (7), and leave the rest as it was. I changed the opposit instructions as well. I set Maniche to zonal marking, always close down & show weaker foot to
the striker, and the wingers. In the 11th minute Gil was sent off, and the game was mine...
Asmini reported, that they are playing defensively, so i raised my team mentality to attacking (18). He also reported, that they like to counter, and they are playing posession football. I suppose thats short passing with normal tempo. So i will set my team to normal tempo (10), and direct passing (12). They are lining up in 442, so my defensive line will be 2 or 3. Set the usual opposition instructions on wingers, strikers, and on De la Pena. I also set Maniche to man mark De la Pena.
Agüero scored early in the game again, and Espanyol changed to 442 with long FwArrows on wingers. So i need to guard my 1-0 win, and hope to perhaps score one with counter. I gave SideArrows to my two strikers, and removed the FwArrows from my wingers. I changed the opposite instructions, always close down&show weaker foot
on fullbacks too. I leaved Maniche to man mark De la Pena. No forward runs except the two strikers, and ticked counter attack. I leaved the mentality on attacking (18), and i prayed. I think, the hardest part is, when the enemy
is attacking, and you have to guard the result.
Pablo scored from corner kick (0-2), and right after that we conceded one from Galletti's mistake, than Rufete was sent off. And then i was too confident of my win, and didn't tweaked anything. When i realised, that something is wrong, it was too late, and they scored, and i could'nt score again,
so the result was 2-2. ( my fault )
when i had to defend the result, used this settings:
-- vs. 442 with Long Farrows on wingers:
Mentality: Defensive (2-3)
Width: Narrow (5-8)
Time wasting: 10 (if leading), 2-3 (if losing)
Focus Passing: down both flanks
Counter Attack
side arrows to strikers, no fwarrows to wingers, no fw runs except the strikers. strikers mentality to 14-15.
Opponent Instructions:
Always Close Down & Show weaker foot: fullbacks, wingers, strikers
-- vs. 424
"Always close down & show weaker foot" to Fullbacks, strikers, and "Always close down & show weaker foot"
Tight marking to FR&FL. Narrow width, side arrows to strikers, defensive mentality and counter attacking. Time wasting: 10.
And prey.
note: my english is not so good, i'm from hungary. sorry.

27 games unbeaten with Atlético in first season Post #2
i managed to be a champion, but i lost 4 games, because of an injury crisis. pablo injured for 7months, perea for 3 weeks, so i had to play costinha as CD. Petrov was out too.
i won the first division by 4 points. maxi wanted to go, so i sold him to lazio, and sold miguel to wolfsburg. i bought lucas(DM) and ibon gutierrez(DM) to strenghten the midfield, and to replace costinha, and bought naldo(DC), because he was transfer listed.
in august i won the spanish super cup vs. valencia (0-1 away, 6-1 home... 6-2 agg.)
the scout report said, that they're playing defensive 442, and short passing, so i went out with attacking mentality (18), deep def line(3), and direct passing(12) with normal tempo(10).
in the first game they changed after 0-1 to 442Att, so i had to tweak, but i managed to defend the lead, and in leg2 i didn't had to change anything.
my first game in the secound season will be against zaragoza, and i hope, i can continue this good run

27 games unbeaten with Atlético in first season Post #5
yes, with a good team it's very hard to lose with this tactic...
i bought mikel arteta, and amelia for free, and i'm ready to begin the secound season, but unfortunatly i will have less time to play in the forthcoming weeks...
