5800 people turned up to watch my team host Crystal Palace. Hardly a big money-spinner, but a nice pre-season cash bonus.
| I never allow my assman do the friendlies, he picks opponents that kick the sh:t out of me. I prefer to line up a few pub teams and dazzle them with my silky skills.
Mind you 5800 people, that's almost as many as come through th turnstyles for the whole year for me

I always allow AssMan to do friendlies. I don't have to worry about realism then. We'll get teams on a par with the other AI teams in our league.

Depends, Julian. I stopped doing it while at Barakaldo.
My assistant insisted on arranging Portugal Tours

That's a good reason to stop him doing it. I've never had an issue with my AssMan, although he does have a home game fetish - In two years I don't think we played one friendly away. Biggest team to visit us was Napoli, and they're our local fallen giant, so it was entirely reasonable IMO.

I have to have preseason friendlies - How else can I assess all those guys in on trial?

Which reminds me, how do you guys assess trial players now the ass man can't offer his opinion on a trial player until you offer them a contract?

If you're playing in Scotland, you can play trialists. |

I never get my Ass Man to arrange friendlies, other teams usually just offer me. I may start getting him to do so if he'll pick decent teams for us to play against

| Try telling that to all the big clubs that swoop in to sign a player who has a breakout game during the World Cup, only to have him turn out to be crap and rot on the bench.
The same thing happens after every major cup competition. Teams race to sign a few players that had a couple of good games, all because they're blinded by the hype of a big tournament.
