It's all about the love of the game. It's about having people who one week will score a hat-trick and the next wek not be able to score in a monkey brothel with a bunch of banana's. The more you play with a team the more you'll understand and be able to develop. LLM is all about using what you have not spending £X million on a world famous Centre Back. Yes it is a thin wire and that is the joy of it.
Tactically, my only tip would be to pick a formation and stick to it. Then try and find people that will go into that. Other than that, do what we all did when we started LLM. Keep pluggin away.
With me, it is all about signing a world class centre back, but having earned the right to manage in the top division by working through your career from scratch. Then the achievement is all yours.
Trying to avoid relegation is fun too. Failing isn't so much
Just keep going with the game. If it gets frustrating, turn it off for a few days (this way I keep my screen intact). Even if you get relegated/sacked etc eventually something will click and your team will start to perform.
There is still nothing quite like the feeling of avoiding relegation on the last day
Bottom line is...some people just don't do LLM. It's nothing to be embarrassed about, it's your game, if you like gunning for success right away, then just do it.
There's a lot of work involved in LLM and some guys aren't prepared to put that work in.
The beauty of FM is that you can play the game either way and get enjoyment from each.
