Really? I think I'd have to disagree there. Central Europe perhaps, Southern Europe maybe, but Eastern Europe would be pushing it IMO.

But, it comes down to personal preference.

Sending scouts out around Europe is Ok*

(*insert cheap airfare argument here).

Its the actual signing of the scouted player that really goes against the grain that is LLM. You may find a gem in Serbia but you cannot sign them*.

(*insert reallism argument here).

I tend to just scout the country of origin until I have been promoted once or twice. Then I SYB and SWYCT. I do this because usually the wages are to low to realistically entice players to move countries.

I have heards some LLaMas will only sign players within a certain geographic area of the country when in the lowest league, but my geography is too ***** to attempt this.

How many scout trips in the UK require hotel stays? I would imagine not many.

How many scout trips from the UK to mainland Europe would require staying in a hotel? Likely 90%.

Is that a realistic cost for a lower league side? Multiple nights in hotels for their scouts? Likely not.

Therefore, cheap airfare, including hotel stays and multiple meals in a day, does not apply when comparing a train ride of a couple hours and a meal at the park.

Pack it in naming Dutch players, or I'll take my belt to the pair of you!

You should card yourself for overuse of imbedded quotes, quite frankly.

Given the state of Britain's transport system I would say quite a few trips could require an overnight stay (especially if you were playing as one of the teams from the SW of the country) - I live in North London and I should think Manchester/Liverpool would be my personal limit for a day trip. Some parts of the SW and North Wales would definately fall into the overnighter category for me as would Scotland (unless I flew up and hired a car) and NI.

And if one can fly to Scotland or Belfast in an hour or so why not include most of the Iberian Peninsula which is very well served by cheap flights with a similar flying time?

I have flown to both Oporto and Barcelona in the morning, had a meeting and flown home again in the evening so I do not see going to a soccer game as much different.

I thought the game factored in foreign players unwillingness to move countries (I have certainly had players turn me down because they didn't want to move countries, or to an obscure team like Barnet) so I'm not sure that flooding the Conference is going to happen.

I currently have three Portuguese and a Belgian bloke out of 25 (I also started with a Nigerian, a Jamaican and a couple of other Caribbean players, whom I am sure are playing in England because of their parentage rather than having been scouted in Kingstown or Lagos). No Scots or Welsh though (the Scots I like will not come and I cannot think of a Welsh player I have liked).
