not sure how it's in the UK - but what if a player gets injured? In Germany, they don't get paid by the club after 6 weeks of injury.
So that's an important point as well when considering a full-time contract as a player - nobody wants to lose their home or car or whatever just because some injury.
Oh, what is the minimum wage in England?
If you're over 22 minimum wage is £5.05 per hour, under 22 is £4.25. I'd know, I'm a broke student working for peanuts, but does anyone know what minimum wage is for a football player? if there is one at all. 6-7 Years ago I played for the mighty Oldham Athletic getting £10 per week, which was (against my will) shoved into a bank account by my mum.

Hm ok, so that would be 170/wk. I've offered new contracts to them to meet the minimum wage. Realism is a bitch |

Just been talking to a friend and he says a contract doesn't spell out how many hours you train/play etc. Instead your wage is calculated on the amount of time it takes to report for home matches, playing the home match to being allowed home, reporting to training, completing training and showering, and from getting to a coach and playing in away games.
So if a 25 year old player is paid £75 a week, he is allowed to train and play a total of £75 divided by £5.05 per hour = 15 hours per week. I think that sounds about right, but don't hold me to that.

Cheers for the suggestions guys.
Think I'm just going to take it as if a player wants more than £250 a week he'll only get it if he moves to a full-time contract (unless he is a complete pain in the @rse about it).
