Hi, this is my first post so be gentle. Up until two weeks ago I was deep into my FM05 LLM career, managing to get to League 1, I was only tempted into moving to FM06 when my girlfriend of all people bought me a copy (she obviously doesn't understand what she's done!). After reading some great stories in this forum I decided to give Hednesford Town a bash, in the hope of doing an update thread but the attendances we're getting seem to be well off the mark, and are making the game rather unenjoyable.

Basically, first season in ECN average attendance = 1293, second season Conference National average attendance 343, third season in Conference average attendance = 400. Now half way through a League 2 campaign barely 500 fans turning up, and it's really took the shine off an otherwise brilliant game.

I ask here in LLM and not GQ because you guys have first hand experience of promotion etc with small clubs. Has this happened to anyone else?, should I just put this down to an error and try another team?, thanks in advance.

for what it's worth, I looked up Hednesford's attendance in my game and your first year attendance seems to be an outlier (signed a famous player/coach by any chance?). However, they also had a higher attendance in the Conference North (745) than in their first season of the Conference National (558), which seems a bit odd.

Normally it should increase a bit when you move up the ladder. In my game they've not gotten promoted. Average attendances have varied from 365 to 662. They finished 9th and best with 662. Then they got relegated two years later.

Not always. In the Conference North/South you get to play local teams more often. More rivalries, it's easier for supporters to travel to away games, and so on. Also, being a top team in a lower division is more attractive than being a nothing a division above.

I find that FA Cup attendances are stupidly low. Im in the Championship with Accrington in season 2011/12 and my attendances in the league are usually up and around the 4000 mark. Yet in the FA Cup 3rd round, drawn against fellow Championsip side Sheffield United and my attendance is 827. I'm yet to play them at home in the league, but my guess is that when I do, there will be about 3000 more people there to witness it. Clearly the Accrington fans are loyal members off the Cups Suck Ass campaign

Not noticed a problem here, have had pretty much had capacity crowds for the last 6 seasons, just in a punch-up with the Workington council on expanding our stadium from 2500, seeming were highly likely to make the Championship this season. Did enjoy a 15 short of capacity crowd at Wembley for the playoff final last season though. 89985 for Forest Workington .

Thanks for replies, I can understand ECN attendances being good due to teams/supporters being in closer proximity, and the biggest (and only) player I signed that season was from the conference.

Anyway, I've decided to struggle on in the hope our attendances will improve slightly, and because I have also noticed in the past 3 home games the attendance has hit 1000+. The only thing I could attribute to this is a pretty decent cup run. My first season I drew against a Championship team in the FA Cup, we lost but after that but, it seems like we were getting attendances of 1300, I guess our reputation for giant killing brought in the fans.

fans dont bother turning up to my games. maybe it's cos we arent very good, but it's more likely because i smell rather bad. Or even a mixture of both
