They had a manager when they got in 2008/09 in my game. Is that normal? In that case you're in for a long wait.

Could be normal. Not every newly promoted team is without a manager. If they have a manager at the start of a game it's possible, since they don't play matches, their current manager stays on the job for many years

They've been promoted in my game for the 2008/9 season.

Doesn't bother me this time round, now they're in the Ryman Premier and have a realistic chance of going up in a couple of seasons anyway. Doesn't look like this season, as Hampton & Richmond Borough are doing very well.

I thought it was their goal to get promoted this season. They were favorites together with Fisher IIRC.
But there's always next season offcourse

is it just me or do they seem to get a slight unfair advantage in previous version of the game and in this one. For example in 2005 their whole squad was in the game, whilst many teams on the same level only got 2 or 3 players.

I believe SI are affiliated to them/ they're affiliated to SI in some way, hence the bias towards them.
