What I found interesting is the board giving me a pay cut at Workington. Club is flush with over £350k in the bank, I've beat their expectations every season, they are delighted, blah blah blah, and then they offer to renew my contract at £20/week less than that previous one. I nearly resigned over that one (just for realism's sake of course!). But then I figured I'd just tick it to them once the club turned pro . But still, what is up with the pay cut?!?!

Here's where I think you're tripping up, jcb. Iajafer hasn't managed in Liverpool in his current save, so Iajafer the Manger doesn't know that Liverpool = (). Iajafer the Real Life LLM Mod does, but that won't stop him from taking the job in the game.

In my current save, I'm playing with Elgin City and refuse to jump ship, "realism" be damned.

But I was ****ed when after my first season of above expectations performance (anything other than 9th or 10th place is above expectations ), they tried to cut my pay from £100k to £80k. I did demand my previous wage. Cheap bastards.

Elgin. \o/

Yeah, they tend to cut wages. Even after I got them promoted. So I've done the only proper thing, and relegated them back to Scots 3 after losing in the playoff final.

Iajafer the manager does know the pressure to win at a club like Liverpool is immense.

At no point have I questioned the realism or likewise of taking said Liverpool job, merely that I don't think it's the open-and-shut case some others do.

I think there's a huge difference between taking a pay rise from £4k to £5.5k as from £24k to £50k.

If you're on £4k a week a £1.5k wage rise would mean a lot more than if you were on £24k and were offered £50k.

£1.5k at £4k a week is worth more on real terms than £26k on £24k a week, in that the £1.5k would raise your standard of living at £4k a week more than £26k would do at £24k.

It makes sense to me :o

I see the point you're making, Ian. If you earn £24,000 a week, do you really need any more money?

But then, I would say that if you were on £4,000 a week, you wouldn't need any more...

Not many UK managers (or a large number of foreign ones)would turn down the opportunity to manage Liverpool IRL.

You're probably right Michal, although I'd suspect "not many" might still be more than we'd guess. And how many would do it without weighing it up first?

If I was at Liverpool there's no other UK Club I'd go to, but that's the same as if I was at Arse, ManUre or Chelski.
