Yeah, an arse is.

| I get that part, Ian. What gives me, as someone who sees greyscale, pause for thought is the issue of happiness. It is a known fact that managing certain teams has an element of pressure attached/buggers up your save (depending on whether it's RL or FM). Would I knowingly give up a perfectly satisfactory position in which I am secure and happy to take an unsecure, ulcer-causing position? If I'm paid enough, probably, but it would still be something I'd have to think about rather than jumping headlong. Similarly, when it all comes down to it I'm playing FM for fun, not because I'm paid to (sadly ). I'm truly intrigued by the black and white nature of things - I'm totally incapable of taking a stand until I've looked at both sides.

If it were real life, then money talks but in a game where you receive sod all financial reward, I'd be tempted to move or stay based on the squad and how happy I am at my current club.

If a man's on 24k a week, happy and secure, but gets offered 50k to go somewhere he knows he's been unhappy in the past and will be under much more pressure, is it really that simple? Apparently I'm the only one here who doesn't see the issue as black-and-white.
Frankly, if I'm making 24k a week, it'd take more than just cash to make me move. I guess I'm not avaricious enough.

I forgot to add that at least my missus agrees with me. She took a 20% pay cut to move from a job she was miserable at to one she's very happy in.

Er...that would be telling. It's realistic if I did, though...a certain Northern Irish ex-Celtic manager was prone to doing it Quote:

I wouldn't leave Newcastle for Liverpool ( ), even if they offered me £50k a week (maybe £75k... )
It's added a new dimension to LLM for me, I've got to say. Before I left East Stirlingshire for Bolton I did seriously consider the implications of the offer (it was a rolling contract, not secure...I considered what effect the moving would have on the wife and kids, and it was the extra £1.5k a week that decided me.)
Newcastle's extra £18.5k and a secure contract for 4 years was a no-brainer, so the manager's wages has definitely added a new dimension, a new consideration when deciding upon a move. Quote:

Ian, your a whore! | You know it
As I said above though, Stan...it seemed realistic to move for the extra money being offered. It's part of the game now, and realism is what gets me. Quote:

If we are talking real life, then surely most people are working towards retirement when they can relax and enjoy time with their family doing things they want to do with out the stresses of work hanging over them? With that in mind, securing a double your money job will, in theory, move you toward you goal just sooner rather than later. That's my theory anyway.

I refer you to my prior comment regarding my own Real Life™, Stan. The missus was miserable at a job and managed to find a job that fits her and she's really happy at. It's lower pay, so by that theory she shouldn't have taken it, but we made the decision that it was better we be happy now and find a way to deal than be miserable now in the hope that it might let us retire 6 months earlier.
Obviously the money is rather less than 20k a week so it's not quite the same, but still... |
