Default The Motormen Goes Foreign

The following game is run under English League Full Detail, Large Database and all players from Singapore and English loaded. Here's a short introduction thread before I post the details of the adventure.

The Beginning
Even in Asia, Singapore have never been recognised as a footballing power. Thus it left many dumbfounded when the appointment of a Singaporean who had no prior experience to take the helm at Rivacre Park were announced shortly before the start of the season. It left the fans disillusioned as to the fate of their club who many already touted to go down the division. Bear with me as I take you to the journey of the Motormen, Vauxhall Motors.

First Day in Office
It looked like a bad decision to come to Rivacre Park after the first meeting with the Chairman. No money will be made available to bolster the squad and anything more than relegation will be deemed an achievement. Met the staff but after a casual chat with them it was clear that except for the scout and physio, the rest had no interest working under an inexperienced manager. Had no choice but to terminate their contracts and making the club around 6k poorer. Despite the abundance of jobless locals, none were interested to come to Rivacre Park and I had to look to my home country to get someone for the Assistant Manager role and a coach.

(Currently in season 07/08 February and in deep trouble. Will post the details soon as I compiled them)

cheers, rasraven.

You are writing a bit (and by bit I mean enormously) too story-like. That's not bad, since there are lots of people who enjoy reading stories about FM experiences. Not in this forum though.

We don't do stories, we do updates. Updates are quick to-the-point summaries about how you are faring in your savegame. League ending position, cup success, bizarre events, anything out of the ordinary. Keep it brief and simple. Maybe one or two paragraphs for a season, that's all.

If you are interested in writing a story nevertheless, check out the other places here. There is a specific forum about FM Stories that would be ideal.

Have fun.

Season 05/06
Despite a 5-0 opening victory against Droylsden, it was a struggle with a mediocre team until mid-Dec when results were more consistent. The league was so close that the title was decided on final match day with the Motormen gainin the automatic promotion spot with a 1-0 win against Kettering while Moor Green went down 0-2 at Manor Park. The latter however made up for the disappointment with a playoff victory over Stafford.

Final Stats
Conf North: W21 D10 L11 Pts 73
FA Cup: 3rd Round Qualifier Lost 1-2 against Margate
FA Trophy: 3rd Round Replay Lost 0-1 Chorley

Season 06/07
Sold 9 players for 9k and brought in 16 for no cost during the course of the season. Lost the first 3 games of the season and ended the season with 8 games without a win. That perhaps would have sent alarm bells ringing on what was to come next season. But high on the agenda was to build up in defence which was the downfall of the season, shipping in 83 goals which was only matched worse by Moor Green who was relegated after shipping in 103 goals.

Final Stats
Conf National: 18th W17 D6 L23 Pts 57
FA Cup: 3rd Round Qualifier Replay Lost 1-3 Leek Town at Home
FA Trophy: 1st Round Lost 1-2 at Farnborough

Personally I think stories are a lot more entertaining but with the limitations of no player name and no tactics stories just don’t work well. Best to stick to the stories forum.

Season 07/08 3/4 season updates
Released 20 players at the end of their contracts. Mostly defenders including my dodgy gk who wanted more money (are you kidding!?) 3 of them however chose to call it a day by retiring and only replaced 9 with new signings with the 20k I got for transfers. Started as how we finished last season going on 10 games without a win. 18 games currently remain for the season (which will be completed soon) and still 6 points from safety in 23rd position. Updates coming soon.
