The game is all about pretending to be a football manager. You can pretend to be any person you want, and any nationality you want. I don't even use my real name. I was Maggie Thatcher in one clan game, ffs
It all depends on what you want the career to be like. If I want to jump ship a lot in one particular country, then I'd choose that nationality. Sometimes I prefer playing as an Icelandic or Japanese manager and build my reputation up slowly and maybe move around different countries a lot. It would be a real pity if every game of FM would be the same.

Then why not pretend to be a football manager with prior knowledge, super tactics that he found online, and all sorts of player tips? I'm shocked that anyone here would consider changing one's nationality to be acceptable, because it's every bit as unrealistic as the above mentioned cheats. You simply could not change your nationality IRL, so why change it in FM?
But apparently this is commonplace, so there's no use in even arguing the point. I'm simply saying that I consider it cheating and I choose not to do it.

It is realistic that all of us would get a job managing a football team too |

Right, the way I see it, the realism part of the game begins after you take over a club. You don't have to be yourself to play the game in a realistic fashion. I mean, there's nothing wrong with being yourself, but that's just one of the choices you make, just like which leagues to load and which team to manage.

I remember a multiplayer game, where I was Russell Crowe & my friend was Tom Cruise.
Of course I had to change my nationality to New Zeland & he to American.

Aren't any people up for the challenge of LLM in non-traditional countries?
| I'm managing Workington from Cambodia. Does that count? |

There's also an Elephant Butte in the United States. And no, I'm referring to the city, not the president.
