I bought a player for 3k, he started playing really well for me, I hadn't really scouted him much I liked his pace, he was in the reserves and I thought he could be a hit for my team.

He played like a man possessed - so Palace come in with a bid of £750k

I accept, this is only 6 months later.

I am delighted with this, I feel weird though.

did I do right or wrong?

I don't see anything wrong with clubs paying way over the odds for average players. It happens all the time IRL.

Depends on how you define way over the odds. The described scenario sounds extremely unlikely to happen IRL.

Which part of the above scenarion is extremely unlikely to happen IRL? That someone will perform like a God for a lowly club, a big club will notice him, poach him and regret that decision because it turns out the guy is a flop?

There is a line I wouldn't cross, though.

If a bigger Club offers, say, £2m for a player to a Conference Club then that would be totally unrealistic.

If, however, the team offered £500k down payment, a further £500k if he played for Poofland, £10k per League appearance for 50 games and a further £500k when he'd played the 50 games then I'd be quite happy about the realism.

Giving a Club £2m for an unproven Conference level youth would be a different story.
