Hy guys, long time player who has'nt played the game since CM3, decided to check it out again and play properly, hence ending up here!
Anyway wanted a quick clarafication on player searches.
It states one of the header threads that searching for free transfers is allowed as long as you stick to your own borders and have you assman filter out unrealistic targets.
My question is this, are you allowed to then filter this list further by using the search filter, are you allowed to view the players stats? Or is it case that you scout the players with in the list rather than the above (very long list!)
Its probably obvious from common sense but i feel its still a grey area.
Also, if you send a scout out to watch a player, who's currently a free agent, your not going to get a report are you, as he wont be playing?
Also, same question as above but applied to staff?
We don't use player search as the norm, some use it for loans some not at all.
We use scouts to find players, they will find players that have been released from clubs.
Our guidelines on scouting when with a lower league team is to Scout the country you are in, you can also scout bordering countries and any countries to which you can tour. There are some exceptions such as in Portugal you could hire a scout in Brazil and run a short scouting in Brazil as there is a tradition for Brazillian to come and play even in the lower leagues.
Even with a list fitered by your Ass. Man. No filter on stats should be used, you should be playing with hidden stats anyway.
All potential recruits should be scouted. Your scout should be able to make comments even on free agents.
For free agents you could offer trials and make up your own mind, with the aid of your assistant.
Searching for staff:
Used by a lot of LLaMas, Filtered to your own nationality, or the nationality of the club you are managing, and unemployed. Choose unknown staff and you may well be able to recruit them.
Thanks for the reply's guys, this area does seem a little mixed up, I have read up quite a bit and there are alot of contradicting posts.
@Church, with regards to no filter, I have attribute masking on but there are still some stats present, is this correct or have a missed something?
If we use scouts only, does this not give the AI an unfair advantage at the start? I.e. it takes time for scouts to find players whilst the AI is signing up left, right and centre.
The use of scouts is the right and pure way for a LLaMa [/praisebetofrank]
We strive for realism as allowed by the game. There's no facility in real life for instant knowledge of players (some will argue about player lists provided by the PFA, etc, but that's not afforded us on FM), so in order to keep the game as realistic as possible we use scouts.
No manager could enter a job one day and sign up 25 first team players before nightfall, it's not realistic, we don't do it in LLM, we use scouts.
If that takes a couple of weeks, sobeit.
We don't strive to gain an unfair advantage over the AI, we play the game as it's produced and use the realism as allowed.
I dont think my post looks for an unfair advantage only that I believe the AI gets one, but no matter I look forward to the challenge ahead, which by perusing my Weston Super Mare squad, is considerable
The AI needs an slightly unfair advantage, it cannot compete with us humans otherwise.
Some stats are available but you need your scouts to fill in the blanks.
Real zealots never use the player search screen at all, finding even loan players with their scouts.
Of course, if a player is mentioned in news reports, such as being offered a loan contract by another team etc., then scouting of that player is acceptable.
