In my first LLM update I chose Basingstoke, I wanted to take them to at least the championship, and I wanted to produce a good young team.

Basingstoke - Season 2005/2006

My tiny squad was never going to win the league, Weymouth stormed straight to the top and never left. My wonderful cup run damaged my season greatly, but i was able to recover. Some much needed signings in February held me at a play off place.

Having dominated every game I played I was fairly confident to go up via the playoffs.

I hammered the opposition in the semis and romped home a 3-1 win against Eastbourne in the final, Basingstoke in the Conference!

English Conference south:
P 42 W 20 D 12 L 10 Finished 4th (Promoted via Playoffs)

Fa Cup: A wonderful run stretching 9 games culminated in losing 3-0 away at liverpool in a third round replay!

Fa Trophy: Went out to Halifax in the qualifying rounds, annoying since I felt once I was into the main competition I could have won it.

So a good season and I finished very financially Stable

Basingstoke - Season 2006/2007

Signed 4 new players for absolutely nothing, one which I later sold on to a championship side for a £1 million profit!

I was assured in the first few games that my side were capable of achieving a safe mid-table position, much to the delight of my board who only wanted me to battle against relegation. After the christmas period I somehow found myself in 3rd position after a fantastic run of wins. Near the end I struggled after selling my best player for a huge profit of £1 million, I ended up finishing 4th and if i was going to get the surprise promotion i was so close to, i would have to win the playoffs.

I won the first leg of the semis 3-2 at home to boston utd.
In the second leg I scored first and shut up shop, somehow managing to score another to take us to the final.

I was to play Hereford for the first time since my penalty disaster and instead of picking my usual subs, i opted for the ones with the best penalty stats. Luckily however we didnt have to take that route, we ran out 1-0 winners in a very close match.

Basingstoke are in the football league!!!

Final League Stats

P 46 W25 D 9 L 12 pts 84 - finished 4th.

Fa Cup: Another good run took me to the second round when I drew League 1 Brentford. I lost 1-0 unluckily.

Fa Trophy: A bit more improvement but i went out on penalties in a 3rd round replay against hereford.

Basingstoke - Season 2007/2008

At the beginning of the season the club turned Professional! A big moment which meant I was going to have to spend a lot of money getting my players up to full time contracts.
I had a look at some of the other teams in the league, and was surprised to see that my squad looked considerably better, and with a massive 3 teams that go straight up, I was quietly confident that I woudlnt be spending too long in League 2. Either this season or next season would be a fantastic achievement.

I was sitting happily in 10th with only 10 games to go, when after a five game winning streak I somehow managed to push up to 4th, just 3 points behind the leaders. I won my next 4 games and incredibly found I was champions, my first promotion without going via the playoffs, I was very proud!

English League 2: P46 W25 D11 L10 Pts 86
Final Position: 1st

Fa Cup: Lost in the first round 5-4 to Kidderminster, for the first time, it sucked arse!

League Cup: My first entry saw me reach the second round, i lost 7-1 to ipswich in a match i would rather forget.

Ld Vans south: Got to the third round but lost 2-1 to colchester.

A fantastic season and probably the best ive ever had in fm!

How comes you picked B'Stoke, are you from around that way? Anyways wouldn't mind being a bit of help starting a B'stoke team seeing as they are my local side!

Very well done!!

Interesting that you turned professional when you did. Still trying to figure out when that happens. Good luck in League 1.
