With regards to the game being too easy, i find it is a good difficulty level, i am now on the way up in league 1, but after a few very carefully placed signings. My success is mainly down to my scouts being on the ball, i have had over my career as Basingstoke manager 5 "promising" players, 2 have been let go and are now worth a very handy sum, but i now own 3 promising players, probably the 3 best players in league 1. This has been the same throughout all my promotions, i find my team is always extremely well equipped for the league, i dont ease through any games, but i have found my signings to be incredibly strong...

I bought players all without clubs in the Conference South that are still doing great in Division 2. Now after I have tapped myself on the back for being such a wonderful manager I do ask the question why did the other AI managers let me buy him?

This player would have been a good buy for any Div 2,Conference National , and Conference North and South teams. That’s about 90 AI managers that missed their chance to get him for free. And I am not just talking 1 player there were several players I got in the conference south that were very good buys. And as I went up through the league I still found it to be the same. As far as I can see AI maagers are crap on the transfer market which is why it is relitavely easy to build a good squad and get promoted.

I dunno, I always wonder how the AI managers come up with their signings. I see lots of famous names signing up for conference sides in the game, the kind that would never ever make it through my realistic targets assman filter (ManU's Norwegian babyfaced assassin to Stevenage in 2007? Give me a break!). I don't think they are crap on the transfer market, and a lot of them sign much better players than me.

I'm with Hogie on this one - from my 5 seasons so far in 06, I find that the scouts have improved a lot. It was relatively easy to build up a squad to breeze through the lower divisions, based on my scout's warmest recommendations. Haven't been playing in the Conference leagues, but Norwegian Div1+2 are about the same level.

I find it to be harder as you progress, quite naturally.. So far in the Championship, my AI opponents have beat me to all of my "most wanted".

Btw, the babyfaced assassin in question plays in Norwegian Div 2 in my save. Give it up for realism.

Basingstoke - Season 2008/2009 - League 1

My scouts really came up with the goods this season. Finding me a brazilian "promising striker" who's scoring record by the end of the season was astonishing, almost 2 in every game. My team by now was built around "promising" players in key positions, and i had great sucess in the league. After a horrendous start which saw me rock bottom, i climbed and climbed throughout the whole season, finishing with a play off place.
The play-off Semis saw me against Wolves, with the first leg at home. A touhg draw as I had only just sneaked a play off place, and was certainly the underdog. We play really well and came out 3-1 winners. we went 2-0 down in the away leg, but sneaked a goal near the end, we were in the final! We were pitted against hartlepool, the team who had only finished 1 point ahead of me, we lost hartbreakingly 2-0, the first time I had failed to be promoted

League 1: P 46 W 19 D 17 Lst 10

Final Position 6th

Fa Cup: I got to the third round, gained a replay away at arsenal and lost on penalties after a 2-2 draw.

League Cup: Lost in the first round 2-0 against coventry away, gutted.

LDV vans trophy south: lost in the third round with a 4-1 thrashing from Plymouth.

So after three successive promotions and then a near miss, you DON'T think the game is too easy?!

I would say so... either that or you're cheating the game in some way.

First of all, I havent cheated the game and I resent the accusation.

Second of all, no I dont find the game easy, I have spent hours fiddling and tweaking my tactics to maintain a good formula. My scuots have found me good players and my team is of a very high quality. Just because I am winning doesnt mean i find it easy.

Remember this, it's easy to loose and hard to win.
