Not true, Hogie. I know what you're getting at, but it doesn't hold all the time.

I cut some deadwood on joining my team. We were 10% under wage budget, and didn't spend any on transfer fees. For the 7 or 8 months of the season so far, we've bled out 50k or so a month. I can't cut the budget any more or I'd not be able to put a team out every week. No way can I get them in profit without some succes on the field (ie promotions) and that takes some time.

The board give you a budget for wages, and it's up to you how you operate within that. Sometimes you can go beyond that budget, sometimes the board will stop you breaking the budget. But how deep into the red the club is - that's not your concern. It's not up to you to sell players to reduce the debt. The board may insist upon it, but until they do - do your job (which is to manage the squad).

Well running in profit for an LLM was probably stretching it a bit but you certainly can control the rate of decent…. But this is not something we will agree on. So lets go for the “It’s your game play it as you want” and I’ll do the same.

I can hardly see how I could do that Hogie.

I've been two seasons at Imortal, POR Div 2 D. I've operated well under budget both season (about 1/5th under it). I've sold 17 players fora combined fee of £646k and only brought in players for £5k.

My full playing roster consists of 19 players.

I've even had decentish runs on the Cup (both seasons reaching 7th round).

Heck, I even was more than 6 months without natural wing cover in defence because someone was foolish enough to splash the cash on my DR and DL.

Guess what my bank account says? £301k in the red just before the season update.
