If you've just come to LLM to argue about guidelines, why bother?

You won't change the collective mind of true LLMers.

The guidelines you mentioned, SWYCT and SYB, work perfectly well together.

The search for Staff has changed through necessity, not to make the game easier. SI have programmed a crap Job Centre option, we have to do the next most realistic thing.

Loan targets have not changed at all. Most zealots sign scouted players as loanees, some use minimal filters in an emergency, but still scout.

LLM is a dynamic way to play FM. It changes as needs must, but never to make the game easier. If you want an easy game there are ways to do that, but not in LLM.

Many, many people have come to LLM trying to change Rules and Guidelines to make the game easier so they can fit into some perceived "Club".

They've failed.

Some go never to return, some stay and enjoy FM the way it's meant to be played.

The LLM way.

Of course the guidelines change over time when the need arises. Wrt the player search screen the need has not arisen. The player search screen has been pretty much the same for as long as I remember, can you tell me what has changed in this release to suddenly require the player search to be used.

Now if advertising in the Job center was implemented in a more Llama friendly way I could certainly see the guidelines being changed so that Llamas should only get staff by advertising. It’s not so the guidelines will not change yet.

You have been crusading on Player search screen for a while now do you think you are getting any close to having the guidelines changed? Why don’t you just try a game without using the Player search screen and if you don’t like it then go back to using the player search.

I am not an ardent believer in the as realistic a possible rule. Can you think of any manage that starts off his career knowing only his own players and doesn’t have a clue about anybody else? I personally never loan players again not realistic but for me it makes the game more enjoyable.

i think it's a pretty big assumption to say that its "easier" using the search screen... in fact, i would argue that it is significantly more limiting, as your chances of finding a good irish/scottish or welsh player (if you're playing in england) is significantly smaller then if you just send your scouts to that area...

I've also already conceded the point that if you're using real players you HAVE to have some kind of limit on your knowledge so the scouting makes sense... I believe the search screen loses its value almost entirely after the first season... after that, i work from scout reports and shortlists entirely because, frankly, it's easier... (if you want to try a "hard" game fire your scouts and just work from the search screen w/ FoW... good luck with that!)

As for change... I'm not advocating a change (that was his assumption, and now yours)... I was stating a position... There's three possibilities:

1. my views change yours
2. your views change mine
3. our views stay separate

any of those outcomes is fine...

for the record, i think SWYCT and Scout your borders are both too liberal and allow for too much... i also think that taking advantage of 06's non-cap on staff salaries should be limited in some way...

been my handle since i was 16 (and infatuated with lacrosse because my soccer career was nonexistent due to lack of talent/athleticism)

the original post i made was to debunk the idea that the search screen is "unrealistic"

i was only responding to the implication that i wanted to change the rules (which i don't) and that i want them easier (which i don't)...

i appreciate your sarcasm and it did bring to mind a very humourous image

If you weren’t trying to get the guidelines changed then please understand that Llamas are very grumpy animals, about once a week a newbie comes along and generally starts off asking a question about the guidelines. Which very quickly descends into a ….
I have read the guideline and I don’t think this is correct, in real life a manager is going to know more players than just in his team, he would know most of the players in the league he was in or players within 20 miles of him.... blah blah blah.

As for the player search screen been more limiting than what your scout finds… well I wouldn’t really know because I don’t use that screen anymore but as the player search screen has thousands of players on it and my scout is on a bike going around England you can understand my skepticism.

Until I get up to div 2, I only ever scout in England. What is the “06's non-cap on staff salaries” they are capped by the board?

there's no backroom staff salary cap... they set limits on individual salaries and that is somewhat restrictive... but with the new training module it is entirely too easy to have a 10 man staff of coaches (1 in each area specifically and 1 coaching all areas to avoid the staff being overworked) by the end of the season... that staff should (with careful allocation) always be at the 3 star range if not higher (particularly in attacking and defense training which will likely be 4-5 stars)...

I've started highering one new coach per season and just limiting myself that way...

Ah now I see what you mean. Yes that is good point, put it this way I can’t imagine any Conference south sides with as many coaches as me :o
