Hello! LLM lurker and player. I don't post much. I just managed to get a copy of FM2006, and yes, I'm rearing to play some LLM.
Is there a new consensus on hiring staff? Is it now posting for a coach, physio etc. or are we still allowed to use the search for staff in our own area method?
Want to get this 'rule' out of the way before I start relagating some club who pays me a princely wage of about 400 pounds. LOL!
I don't use the Job Centre, it's crap and it's unrealistic. If you want a Nigerian or a Russian who's never played in Britain and has no link to the UK, and who wants £10k p/w to Coach East Stirling...the Job Centre's for you.
For Staff only I go for people of the Nationality of the Club I'm playing at...or Scots...and sign them if their reputation's crap and they're an unknown name.
I think I'm more realistic than the Job Centre as far as that goes.
I've found the job centre in 06 to be better than 05, but still have to manually search occasionally, the main reason being that the applicants were all attached rather than from the wrong continent.
There's a jobcentre in FM? What will they think of next? Has anyone ever been down to the jobcentre to apply for football jobs? Has any club ever employed a jobcentre applicant?

My mind is boggling.
There are specialist sports recruitment agencies which serve approximately the same purpose. You send them details of your vacancy and they send you a bunch of candidate CVs.
In FM this is amalgamated into a single 'job centre' interface. Not unreasonable IMO. It's crap (in 05) and I don't use it - but that's another question.
In theory it is the way to go and if it gets implemented correctly in FM2007 I could see a Llama guideline being introduced that the only way to get staff is through advertising. However at the moment it is too expensive for Llamas, Would you really spend 6,000 advertising looking for a scout that you are going to hire for 20 per week? You would spend more on advertising than you would pay the guy for 5 years employment!
One way you could implement this is to have different levels of advertising.
EG.
Own website costs 100 per week
Local newspapers 200 per week
National papers 1000 per week
Small National recruitment Agency 5000 per week
Large National recruitment Agency 10000 per week
Small International recruitment Agency 20000 per week.
Large International recruitment Agency 50000 per week.
So while the likes of Man Utd would go for the Large international recruitment agency, Llamas would go just for advertising on the own website, or perhaps local newspapers. They could even advertise in national nespapers but you would probably get called into the board room to explain why you went to International recruitment Agency to hire a physio for 20 quid a week.
Plus as Iajefer said I really can’t see Foreign coaches jumping in to work as a part timer in the Conference south for 40 quid a week! So your level of advertising would govern you foreign mixture.
Now advertising on your own website could potentially reach an international audience, but you will not get international coaches applying for these jobs because they have never heard of Basingstoke town so do not know their web address.
So does anybody think this is workable/ worth implementing. Please feel free to either add to this idea or come up with something completely different.
The job centre wouldn't be so bad if I could actually afford the wages of the people applying. I've been trying for 4 seasons now to hire a Physio but can't spend more than £35/wk. For some odd reason the salary seems not to be listed when I post an add, because everybody applying wants 10 times as much.
