Howdy fellow Llamas! Glad to be back in the land of the dead after EHM hell
Now that I have my patched FM up and am doing rubbish losing matches and money hand over fist, I thought i'd bring up something that was bothering me LLM-wise (and forgive me if this was brought up before- I couldn't be arsed to look through too many threads):
The job centre feature seems to me to eliminate the old way of finding staff. The problem is I put out an advert for an assman. I got a pile of rubbish applicants, all of whom were currently with other clubs. Having no money to pay compensation I ended using the old method of the staff list search. I found piles of unemployed people, and hired some staff that way.
I got to feeling guilty though, like I should be only using the job centre since that is probably most realistic. On the other hand, while there are lots of unemployed staff, very very few come in response to the advert. Now you might say they just aren't intersted, yet they will sign if you approach them.
I needed some staff, but it was and is a bit of quandary. What's the Llama community take on this?
I supose it's too new and flashy for us to have an official take on it.
I use it for all my needs and besides the majority of the staff being attached, there are also non-attached ones roaming around that will somehow apply for your vacancy...
The problem seems to be that they are not pressed to go out of the dole, so it takes a while for them to fill in a CV.
I don't use it. I'm sick of Lithuanians, Russians, Nigerians and Welshmen applying for coaching jobs at East Stirlingshire and asking for the price of a Kia/Perodua every week for them.
I use it by preference, but on occasion have gone back to the "traditional" methods of finding staff.
In Portugal, I had a scout and a physio ad running for a whole year at my tiny club (I had one scout and no physio). No applicants at all. So I checked, and there are no unattached physios of Portuguese nationality (and I'm using Huge DB too :eek. I eventually used my "English contacts" to sign an English physio with language skills as it just seemed unrealistic to be without a physio for so long.
My second club, bigger rep but again no physio. Got some physio applicants this time, but all were attached (unsurprisingly). I did manage to find a couple of scouts with this lot as my rep is better. Couldn't afford to "buy" a physio, so went back to traditional means again.

Only three of those nationalities are unrealistic for East Stirling, Ian.
(Everyone knows Jockland is full of Nigerian coaches )
