I know from experience that the conference is harder than league 2. It is quite realistic that they've reproduced this on the game, if they meant to.

So do most relegated L2 teams struggle in the Conference IRL?

Well Cambridge and Kidderminster aren't exactly setting that league alight this season.

Nor Scarborough, ever since they got relegated back into it.

The top half of the table is heavy with former league teams, despite Accrington Stanley and Grays Athletic heading the way.

It happens alot that relegated teams do poorly in their new divisions, no matter which division that is. Take leeds, sheffield and nottm forrest as some prime examples. Some of the most succesful clubs ever, but they arne't doing too well now IRL.

Shame that isn't the case on my game, how dare they beat me 6-0!!

Teams relegated from the Premiership is a different kettle of fish entirely from league->non-league. The standard of skill is a different class in the Premiership and the further down the leagues, the less skill matters and more physical attributes take a part.

There's not much difference between a team that finishes bottom of the Premiership and top of the Championship, which is why teams that go up tend to come straight back down: also why teams that go down either go back up (if they were prepared for the relegation and don't spend massively trying to stay up, a la West Brom, Birmingham, Charlton, Bolton) or free-fall to a point (a la Bradford City, Barnsley, Swindon).

Because there's not much difference in skill between Conference and League Two, a team that finishes rock bottom of the league will not be the same standard as the team that finishes atop the Conference at all. Most teams that go up from the Conference get up to League One (Wycombe, Macclesfield, Kidderminster, Yeovil) and most that are relegated from League Two languish in Conference for quite a while (Halifax, York, Scarborough).

I've always found League 2 easier for a few of the reasons mentioned here. A top 7 finish giving you some hope of promotion is a massive luxury (esp. in the old days of just 1 up/1 down between conference and old Div 3.

Also, in real life there is next to no difference in standard between the two leagues so a team who is good enough to top the conference should be able to carry momentum through into League 2.

Also, teams that are relegated from league 2 are often in a lot of financial trouble, poor attendences, player wages ect. So it isn't easy for them to buy their way back up.

Name me any Conference side that have had any money to spend on players whatsoever and bought success.

Rushden? No. Debt-ridden now.
Forest Green? Same thing, but without the league football.

You can't "buy your way up" from the Conference, as skill is not a pre-requisite in the lower leagues.

What is this skill thing that people keep on talking about? Is it the column of 1’s on the left hand side of the player profile screen?
