Valid point. Now all i have left to do is write some blah-blah-blah over 150+ pages, and i'm done

You'd be surprised though. It's mostly positive. That's what the "developing" word staus for. The only negativiants are... yes, you're right. Ex-USSR. Well, Congo too.

Mainly East Europe and the CIS plus most of sub Sahara. This includes countries with significant populations.
This is a worrying point in that the decrease in GDP becomes self perpetuating and is only balanced by a loss of population.
Soon some contry is going to suggest wiping out half its population just to show an increase in GDP to please the World Bank.

Sorry to hear about your game, Andy. I'm currently in my first season of a new game with Altrincham. I'm in mid-feb, and i've been hovering around 3-4-5th for most of the season. I hope for the playoffs, but automatic promotion will be a little beyond us, i feel. I also have loan players in my GK and DMC spots, so there are holes in my squad which will need plugging next season, regardless of which division i'm in. I've already picked up a few good free's though, so i'm hopeful. This season could depend on whether i've burnt out my 19yr old goalscoring machine or not. I've tried to leave him out when i could, but I worry not enough. We shall see.

Well, still no patch, so another question for educated LLaMas

What do you think about dependancies (if any) between average productivity in the economy and national expected life length?

All ideas are welcome!

Andy

The productivity of a country ususally indicates its level of industrialisation. Whilst this can cause environmental and social problems it in the main improves the economy of the nation and hence allows the population to access better health care and plentiful food this ususally leads to a increase in longevity.

It is no accident that OECD countries have a population with a longer life span than those of developing countries when you look at the comparative standards of health care and nutrition.

Makes sense.

Still, questions. Better productivity means better living conditions. Which menas increase in "quality" of population (new-borns have larger access to hi-tech and stuff). And that means that, when they turn into labour force, they'll have the ability to increase the productivity even more.

Not sure if i sound clear, but that's what i guess. Further more, statistical analisys do not show any stable connection between the two.

So, can we say that... ok, without acceptable level of productivity/human resources given, the country wouldn't develop considerably beyond it's current level unless there are some external actions (think small Asian countries being widely used as 'remote plants' for developed countries)?

Or am i making a mess of it?

The dispersal of wealth also has something to do with it. The added productivity must improve the lives of the general population not just the privledged few. I don't think it it a coincidence that the countries with the highest GDP are democracies with stable governments and usually welfare systems for the less fortunate in their communities (Singapore is an exception as they are governed by a benevolent autoccrat). You need to get health care and education to certain levels before people stop thinking of day to day survival and start investing in their own future. I believe once literacy reaches a certain level among the poor in a nation then democracy is unstoppable.

The country also needs to have systems in place to minimise graft and corruption in the public sector as this can be a great source of waste.

Good evening everybody.

It's been a good while since i posted here last. The 503 patch has been released by the SI Games recently, which made it possible to start a new game with Altrincham.

If anybody's still interested, i could continue this update thread. What do you say?
