Ok,

Seeing as FM2006 has now been offically confirmed, I thought it would be a good idea to start a thread on the issues in Fm2005 that affect the way we play our game.

The earlier we get these problems identified then the more likely they will be fixed. I am not asking about graphical bugs in the game such as dodgy news reports, but the aspects in the game that have a deep impact on LLM and you think needs changing.

Over to you.

Leaving detailed copoments on scouting etc. to others I'll just kick off with a lack of effective distinction between professional and part-time/semi-pro (and amateur) clubs/players.

Things that I think could be improved to make sense in LLM.

<UL TYPE=SQUARE>
<LI> Scouting
<LI> Part-Time Status and effects
<LI> Sponsoring. Why do contracts stick when you get promoted/relegated?
<LI> Job Center: less foreigners, requirements (uncontracted for example)
<LI> players asking *you* for trials
<LI> clubs getting relegated by force / more punishments.
<LI> possibility to sign "greyed out" players in your youth team -&gt; changing them to a real player on request
<LI> news items: when you offer players to clubs or when you scout competitions, you'll end up with thousands of items. It would be better to put those reports into a different place where you can optionally view them.
<LI> transfer market: co-ownership and future fees and whatever are possible. It would be good if AI managers would make use of them when poaching your talents.
<LI> Loans: tune that bit, so that lowest leagues aren't full of Premiership top-players.
<LI> Less impact of morale? That's more of a general issue though
</UL>

hmm..can't think of more this very moment.

<UL TYPE=SQUARE>
<LI> Scouting.
<LI> Scouting.
<LI> Scouting.
<LI> Scouting.
<LI> Scouting.
<LI> Part-Time Training (both PC and AI).
<LI> Training.
<LI> Wage Budget bug when rising through the leagues.
<LI> Job Center: Better implemented.
<LI> Trial-out matches (That's what I think they're called at least. It's those matches that are held with players whose apprenticeship contract has already expired).
<LI> Better finantial management by the AI.
<LI> Regens and U18 teams: Basically what I would like here goes very much in the lines of what Dave C has suggested for in the GQ. Clickey Here!

Also, I really think we should get rid of grey players in active leagues. They shouldn't be here, full stop.

If there ever was an injury crisis so big that left you without a player for a specific critical position (goalie is the one I'm mostly thinking about, but a small LLM team with only 2 strikers and one or both of them out for more than one month should also trigger that), the AI should create (as it did in 01/02) some 16/17 yo player to cover for that.

<LI> AI better management of squad size and eligibility of players in leagues with registration windows and limited playing staff (Spain, Portugal, etc...) Necessary for both LLM and Top Leagues. Clickey here!
</UL>

* Scouting - Just rubbish at the moment. Sending a scout out to the 3rd divison in France (I am in div 2), he can not find one single player.
* Huge impact of morale - as Cosmo-poof said, maybe a more general issue.
*Maybe not _every_ team in the lower divisons should have a reserve team and a u-18 team. Not sure everyone could afford that...
*Training - does not make any sense what so ever right now. Goalies practising penalties - on their own?

I know I just repeated what others had already written, but live with it... I aslo have some improvement suggestions for tha match engine but that is not really restricted to LLM only.

Scouting definately needs to be improved.

Job Centre to be improved, I agree with the above comment to make it configurable. Identify relevant skills as you can at real job centres.

Stop unrealistic players joining clubs that are worse than you especially after turning you down.

More functionality around the youth set up, most lower clubs have a few youth teams so this is not unrealistic. This should be the backbone of LL clubs as they can't afford the best players.

I like the idea of players approaching your club as that happens all the time IRL.

Allow trial matches to be played parallel to the seasons fixtures.

More movement of players at conference south/north level. IME players have moved between clubs for small amounts of money or been released to join another club. There doesn't seem to be much in the way of clubs approaching you for your players in the lower leagues.

<LI>Scouting, scouting, scouting...Always been the weak link, and still is

<LI>Less stupid job offers. New wet behind ears manager gets job offer from club 2 Div higher. Come on

<LI> Scouting. Improve it 250%. Very poor in CM and still very poor in FM

<LI> All of what the rest of the LLaMa's have said

<LI> Realistic caps on backroom staff. Bottom of league clubs can still hire 29 coaches, 18 Physio's, 42 Scouts. Come on

<LI> Bit more random "star" youth players coming through in LL clubs. I think in five years playing this game, I have had one "star" youth player come through while at a LL club. Not every youth player starts at Manure

<LI> More late development youth players and burnt out youth players. eg: Start
carp, looks carp, is carp, but later blooms into a "star" player...and the reverse..No every youth player starts good, and ends up a star. RL events can take toll. All of use can think of a great player whom you played with in your youth that should of gone onto great things, but burnt out due to RL events.

<LI> Scouting, scouting, scouting.

It would be helpful if when you say something should be improved you could state how / what would improve it.

What specifically about scouting needs to be improved for example. There's a special place where CraigO (and some others) can post these things, but it needs to be more specific.

So say scouting is bugged as your reputation doesn't rise with promotion so that scouts are still searching for lower reputation players. Or the scouting reports need to be more detailed, explaining a players potential, who he might compare to, what role he might fill in the squad now and in the future, highlight special attributes in a text format rather than revealing actual numbers of every attribute at first glance (FoW better implemented to force scouts to view players multiple times before certain attributes are ever revealed), etc...

Carry on...some good ideas. :thup:
