Okay, here's the deal.

With Altrincham promoted to PRM the scouting stopped working at all.

Wherever i send them due to the SWYCT, the find the same - zero.

How the hell am i supposed to bring in new players? All who i have in the shortlist 'doesn't have future in prof football', according to scouts.

Seems i have no other option as to use the search screen with a set of filters (listed, position, filtered by assman)?

Any experience here?

Which version, Andy? Has this manifested itself in 06 too? (It's a known issue in 05).

I've taken the high road to overcome it. Move clubs and the scouts start working again. The other option I've used is to retire and do a Doctor Who style regeneration atthe same club, which should also fix it. Ofc neither of those are ideal, but they don't involve any messing about with the guidelines.

I believe Jordi managed to limp along by scouting individually any player mentioned in the media - am I remembering that right?

Try signing new scouts, Andy. That worked for me once, it might work for you too.

Yep, just employed some better scouts here, and developing players with potential to fill in any gaps I have.

FM 05 for me.

I don't like the idea of moving clubs, as the save was planned as a single club.

Though there's plenty of nations to choose from, and the offers come pretty ofthen.

New scount don't change anything, Kostis, i've tried that. Last time it did something was in EC, nothing now.

If we're talking about media - what's the deal then? Scout players of the year? Okay, there are messages about unhappy players, that's right. Unfortunatelly, i don't get news about, say, EC players, which could come in handy.

FM05 is known for having problems with scouting.

Damn, and here I am just getting into a really good game on FM05 ... my first bona fide attempt after going a long stretch without a machine with good enough specs to run the game. So, how prevalent are these scouting problems? Are they guaranteed to hit every time in the later stages of a saved game? What about assigning scouts to clubs, regions, or other options? Could this circumvent the problem? Does it only happen with scouting nations?

I don't think it's guaranteed to happen. I had a long-term FM2005 save where I didn't have problems with scouts finding players. The problems came in where they were only finding players of a far lower standard than the club needed. I'd guess just go on with it if it's a good save and hope it doesn't happen to you
