Cant help feeling si have missed a great opportunity to capitalise on football management games. Having played fifa manager and champ man,i think that if si hadn't released such a bug ridden game, new buyers would have loved it straight away.As it is, it is such a mess that with patches being released within days just to get the game going half decent,si have missed out by rush releasing it in this state. Its still not a finished product as we're all still waiting for another patch.Maybe a lesson to be learned for 09,as im certain the opposition would have been well and truly trounced if the game had been released without the need to patch it up straight away.
SI won't stay up front if they continue to release such buggy games as this. It's criminal that the game, almost a month after release, still aren't playable and EVERY person who had bought the game should be given a free copy of FM09 as compensation.
Every year patches have been released on the release date or shortly thereafter.
SI have not missed a golden opportunity.
I loved the game straight away, but yes, after experiencing a few minor problems, I worked round it in game and I found everything okay.
Every game nowadays is never bug free on release and patches will always happen.
I do agree to an extent that games released nowadays should be released as bug free as possible, but the reality is, this isn't the late 90s anymore and the majority of people buying these games do have the internet. With broadband being cheaper than dailup in most places, there isn't the excuse for those in the more developed countries to complain.
What I might ask though, is there should be the possibility of buying the game straight from SI or Sega or something for people in the less developed areas to ship games and get around these problems if people feel it is too much hassle.
Perhaps an increase in price on such titles - let's call them an "insurance policy" - should allow to pay for patches to be delivered to your address or something.
Something to think about if new patches don't get released in games magazines...
I wouldn't know. If there are minute problems for some people, then customer services should try to ensure that these eventualities are covered and they can be catered for. But is this really an issue today? I'm from England so really I have no problems whatsoever, other countries may differ...
But I do not think this is a half-finished game and is pretty much as I expected. As always room to improve.
Talking about opposition - in my opinion there is no opposition to FM really because any decent gamer would realise the differences and that FM is years ahead of CM and Fifa. Release dates won't matter too much when people realise the quality of FM.
Having said that, would be nice to see maybe FM released later than CM et al - might make the games development more interesting for the next version....
Mostly it's the people who are already sold that will be most disappointed about the bugs, so I don't think that the impact will be huge. I think that there are plenty of fence sitters though, that might not buy the game next year if they come into the forums and see that the game has a few thousand bugs on release again.
not being funny but any competitor of FM is just crap! i bought every football management sim this year having played all the rest through the years! having stayed loyal to the cm title for ages i done a benayoun and jumped ship and fm08 nocked the socks off the rest! i dont understand why so many people complain! either dont buy the game or make 1 better if it discusts u so much u feel the need to write about it!
Every year, same threads , same moans, yet you keep buying the games!
yes there are bugs but there are in any game, or any software ever released. The difference is SI will release patches and keep working after release date. Not all companies do this
to be fair, the EA series has always been riddled with bugs in the past - serious ones that completely destroy the illusion of reality and make the game a joke.
not sure what they're like now.
the problem for SI with releasing buggy games is that they'll isolate newcomers to the series who won't enjoy the game as much as they should and may not be aware of the patches.
Same with the missing logos & facepics, newbies may not be aware that you can download and add your own graphics and may be left unimpressed.
