Basically, I'm playing as At. Madrid, I'm 27.5K under my wage budget, yet I still seem to be losing a lot of cash (2 or 3 mill) every month and I don't know why?
Anyone else had this problem? Is it something to do with the second patch maybe?
Looking at the breakdown of Income and Expenditure (or whatever they are called) should give you a good idea of where the money is going. If it's Other or somesuch else you have no control over then you just have to live with it and keep selling players if you want to keep good finances
Does the club have any outstanding loans? If so the interest you're paying on these loans will acount for the money you're losing.
It's the same when playing as Man Utd, they lose about £4 million a month on loan interest (a loan which they really do have in real life btw). But it's still easy enough to keep them in the green as long as you manage your finances properly, I'm going into my 4th season with them and have had no problem. Just remember it's there and manage accordingly, it's all part of the challenge.
Had a look and the club doesn't appear to have any outstanding loans. Managed to get a Japanese feeder club and I sold a few players (got quite a bit of cash for Simao). Hopefully, this will keep the club stable for now (or at least until the next patch comes out ).
You should take a close look at each revenue and expense items.
As someone mentioned above, debt service (interest payments) could enlarge expenses, even if your wages are within budget.
Your revenues may also be under what was budgeted.
This could result from:
1) lower than expected match tix sales &/or season tix sales
2) loss of other revenue (failure to find new sponsor, etc)
3) low merchandise sales (never seen this in FM, but you can still boost this by getting affilates in Asia or the US)
Have a look at your individual player contracts.
What I've noticed is that all my players seem to have an appearance bonus tied into their contract. In other words, with my Liverpool team, playing my best lineup is gonna cost me alot in terms of appearance payments.
In regard to this issue, anyone know how to change this? They never accept if I offer a renewed contract without any appearance bonuses.
they speculate about their finishing position, the money for cup runs, the money for attendances and spend moeny in advance.
for example if liverpool expect to get into the champions league next season, finish 3rd this season and win the fa-cup and have a long champions leage run then they can expect to get 50 million pounds? for example anyway.
so they will spend that money in the knowledge they will get it back.
