In each new release of FM I find the same two FM problems which worry me the most (except for major bugs, ofcourse): regens and awards.
Low quality regens have been a problem for a long time already and were discussed here frequently. They're much better in FM08 comparing to FM07, but there are still no really great newgen players with personalities, attributes and special moves suiting a football star. IMHO overall regen quality (attributes, personalities)needs to be increased, more special moves need to be generated, regens simply need more individuality. Also it's quite strange to see a national team such as England in 2016 with 80% of players older than 30 and the same old dudes winning all world and european awards, because their reputation is high.
Now to the awards issue. This has also been revamped and is much better than in FM07, but still quite unrealistic. SI told us that player's performance in key competitions such as Champions cup, European championship and World cup will be taken into account when awarding. According to this, and realistically, best players of these competitions should be the main contenders for world and european awards. I can say that I still haven't seen (I'm in 2018, I've also tried going on a holiday up to 2025 a couple of times) World or European player awarded to BEST players of those competitions. It shouldn't happen all the time, ofcourse, but Awards are still mostly based on reputation and, thank you SI, on player's average rating throughout the season, which I haven't seen in previous versions. World footballer voting is also a cool new feature. But still, it would be much more realistic to base awards not only on these factors, but also on competition performance. For example: best player of WC98 - Zidane, he also won World footballer and European footballer, Andriy Shevchenko scored a penalty kick in the final of the Champions league in 2004 and Milan won - he won the European player award. More realism, please!
