I know there's no way around this if it isn't a friendly but I absolutely hate it when my key player gets called up to an international game where he either A) sits on the bench B) plays some weak team where they didn't even really need him after winning by 4 or 5 goals C) comes back tired and I end up having to bench him anyways

International call-ups definitely need to be adjusted. There's no reason to recall players from overseas to play against some team that you're going to kill regardless.

Stuff like this is why I hate World Cup Qualifiers, African Nations Cup, Olympics and U-anything in FM.

Whilst there are problems with this in FM, there are a few real-life managers who share your pain.

if they're genuinely meaningless (i.e. friendlies) you have the opportunity to withdraw the player from the squad.

if it's a qualifier of african nations etc. then the player should be attending whether he gets time on the pitch or not. happens all the time...

Seriously though what is the problem, that your players are being called up for competitive internationals? Im sure Joachim Low was annoyed when Michael Ballack was injured in a 'meaningless' away game against Newcastle, a team the would have, to use your words 'killed anyway.

I agree. My team Notts County made the Div 1 playoff final and 5 of my first team regulars where called up for international duty and missed the final.

Granted 3 of them play for Jamaica, but still those calls up decimated my team.

Landon Donovan played more for the USA at the start of my season than for my Barnsley team. 3 of these games he went and played rubbish teams like Grenada, St Kitts and El Salvador even tho the USA had qualified for the world cup already.

Well, i really understand ur problem, but its a fact this thinks happend all day, but okay, if u want the game to be more unrealistic, its a opinion, but than....

what happend, if u got the top star, and a rotation player from .... brazil and both are key players in ur team, wich one should be stay at home? the star, becouse he is to important to get injured against an underdog, or the rotation gamer, becouse he is easy to exchange. Anybody has to play, thats why u never will be happy as long u get the international stars.... but on the other side, think u play agaisnt manu or whatever, and they send 10players on international duty, u would be unhappy as same like now?
