Ever wished the board were real so you can wring their scrawny necks?
OK. Here's the scenario.
I am awful Blue Square South team.
I am in possession of wonderkid. (turned up via youth intake one year)
Needless to say, said wonderkid is in the first team and is getting nines in every match. Arsen Goddamn Wenger is turning up every game to watch him, along with a plethora of elite managers.
Anyway, you get the idea...The kid is like golddust.
To cut a long story short, his contract is running out, and he want a salary that exceeds what the board will allow. So I give him the maximum salary, outlandishly generous bonuses and surprise, surprise, he refuses.
So his contract runs out and he gets a FREE EFFING TRANSFER to bloody Arsenal.
And you know what really made me weep like a four year old girl? He wanted $1,300 per week and the board only allowed $1,000 for a key player.
This obviously brings us back to the title of this topic.
I wish I could magic the board of the team into my living room so I can kick them repeatedly in the testicles for not allowing an extra measly 300 bucks a week to hang onto a player that would have undoubtedly played football better that Pele.
Grrr.
(Other than that, I'm thoroughly enjoying the new game SI. Cheers).

Tbh this is one of the reason SI implemented the budget crossover feature (transfer budget to salary budget). If you didnt have any transfer funds to ply into salaries you should have sold the player while you had the chance (with future transfer bonuses etc).
You were never going to hold on to him in the long run anyway, and irl....he would have been shipped out while he could still fetch a fair price.
It sucks, but thats football.
+ the game gas to be programmed in some way. It's tough to allow a £300 increase for a bottom level club without allowing a £30000 increase for a prem club.
Not what you wanted to hear i know, sorry.

If I had someone as valuable in my LLM game, I'd look to cash in on him asap. When managing Grays (I think on FM06) I had some Scandinavian winger (I think his name was Khalili) who was amazing for me. I managed to off-load him to a Championship club for 500k with a 25% sell on fee.
He was carp for them, but the 500k I raised from the transfer enabled me to buy the 5 or 6 players I needed to push for promotion.

In FM 07 I had a superstriker who was worth £975k playing for my Conference team, the chairman sold him to some Danish club for £1.5m. I'd take £1.5m over a star striker any day in the lower leagues.

HATE when this happens. i got really lucky and one of my youth team happened to be awesome in first youth intake (2nd season), now some 3 seasons later when he's helped me into the Championship by scoring a stupid number of goals the board want to accept £2.2 million for him as the offers 'too good to refuse' when he's valued at £2m! I've tried everything to keep him (set asking price to £50m, maxed out contract, hands off warnings, key player status etc)but can't compete with bigger clubs who have more spending power so have now stopped playing the game until the new patch so i can get FMM and stop him from leaving dishonestly!
