Well, where I was looking from it looked like a circle with a number was on top of another circle with a number... So anything could have been happening really...
It is a little daft that there's no way of knowing whether a foul was committed or not. The replays obviously give nothing away. What we need is some way of having a better idea. Perhaps a message could come up saying something like, 'having viewed the incident again, your assistant manager believes that our player probably did get away with committing a foul inside the box.' Or whatever applies to the particular situation.
On the other hand, do we really need to see the incident? Most managers either agree with the decision if it went in their favour (no matter what they might know privately), or they claim temporary blindness.
What relly annoys me is 1. the player is clearly not offside when he gets flagged for it.
or 2. The forward travels half the pitch and scores only to be told he's off side.
i always refuse to comment on penalty decisions, unless i really trust the player complaining about it, ie my captain for 5 years etc, but i always comment on offside decisions as you can actually see if they are or not in most cases, and with the penalty thing, look to see what the commentator says, if he says, that was a dubious penalty then complain or if he said that was a clear penalty then you not what to do!
I'm a philosophical kind of guy, and always reply that these things happen in football. Sometimes it annoys my players who say I should stick up for the team, but sometimes it also makes them happy, as they like that I can show sympathy towards the opposition!
Although I do agree there should be some way to get a better response. I may try reading the text report on the match screen, to see if that gives a clearer indication.

Yeah, but dubious isn't the same as clearly not a penalty. Also, the game often only says that a particular player was furious with the decision or considers it harsh. And even when it is a dubious decision, if you tell the media of your doubt, a message often comes up saying you have been disciplined and later footage showed the decision correct!
Mike, I only complain when the commentator says it was "dubious", or other such comment, and I have never been disciplined.
Players may complain and be furious all they want, that doesn't make a difference, as far as I can tell.
Even for offsides, I don't trust my own eyes, simply because the offside rule is flawed in this game. I trust the commentator, and I have never been banned. If the commentator says nothing, it probably means "the decision may have been correct".
On the other hand, I don't know if the commentator is 100% accurate, but I have been lucky this far.
