It's no use having a squad full of star players without a decent way for them to play their football.

The passing thing is probably the thing that I've changed through the 7 years. But I'm playing my best football under mixed , but through the middle , and Ironically , down both flanks both seem to work aswell. Its up to you.

I don't really change it. In recent times I've taken the defensive farrows off. But thats because I've played Watford , Man City and Everton , all away. And I'm still unbeaten after 7 games.

What if you played Chelsea away or a top team?

Depends on how they were going to use their wingers. If they had them advancing up the wing, then I'd probably take the farrows of the full backs and just have a flat back four. But thats the only change I would make , apart from that , I'd just throw hell for leather at them and see what happened.

How well are you doing in the league with Arsenal or when you were Arsenal?

I never was Arsenal. It was just a system of how Arsenal play in real life. I've only used it with Tottenham and Torquay.

Im Loving this tactic, its the best ive used for FM 07, i posted last week talking about how well i had started with Shakhtar but usually on this game my tactics stop working after the 1st season but this has been great.

I won the cup and league by a mile in 1st season i had a record of P30 W28 D1 L1 Pts 85. Improved the team a bit for the second season and won the League and cup again which wasnt too hard in the Ukranian league but i won the Champions League! With Shakhtar! - thats gotta be my Greatest achievement ever on FM considering how hard this version is. After that i took the job at Torino who had finished something like 14th the previous season - I finished 2nd and won the Cup.

I think its important that you have fast, skillful players on the wings and up front i dont think its as effective without. This is a Brilliant Tactic! gets your team playing some beautiful football and winning games doing it

i use this tactic and it works.
my questions to developer of this tactic :

İmportant q: i use it in 7.00 version.did you create it for another version? and what changes would be better for version 7.00 ??

1-why do you choose man mark ?

2-did you try passing focus to "mixed" ??

3-why didnt tight marking work better ?

4-did you try decresing match tempo ?

5-what are the disadvantages of playing counter attack ?

thanks and good luck with your improvements.

Thanks for the interesting tactic.

I have been playing a 4-4-2 diamond tactic that was quite defensive. I'm playing as Dunfermline in the SPL and usually finish around 7-8th. I'm not very good with tactics, so I was proud that I've managed to keep my side in the SPL with a tactic I created around the standard one.

I was interested in going with something more attacking since I've got a better squad in 2009. I tried to imitate/modify your tactic then eventually downloaded it, but I am struggling with it. I'm going to try and pull my defensive line back and see if the results improve overall. Here are my results so far:

when I modified my tactic to similar to yours:

1-1 vs Kilmarnock
1-1 vs Livingston
0-2 at Dundee Utd

Then downloaded your tactic:

3-2 at Hearts in cup (good result)
0-1 vs Celtic
1-7 at Hearts (completely hammered)
1-1 at St. Johnstone

I feel like I should have beaten Killie, Livi an St. Johnstone plus I get outshot at a 2-1 ratio every game. Hmmm.

Here is my lineup (regular /wo injuries):

(G)Chris Wijnterp, (DL)Carl Dickinson, (DR)Ahmed Ammi, (DC)Pawel Golanski, (DC)Gary Caldwell, (ML)Marino Promes, (MR)Libor Sionko, (MC)Gavin Rae, (MC)Eric Addo, (FC)Craig Dargo, (FC)Nacho Novo.

Thanks again for the tactic. Hopefully pulling my defensive back helps out.

Stew

It was designed on 7.0.1 . And to be honest I've never gone back to use it on 7.0.0 , but I'd assume it'd work.

Anyway your questions -

1.I just don't like Zonal Marking. Zones don't score goals , players do. Just a personal preference.

2.I've tried Mixed , Narrow and Down both flanks. And to an extent they all work , I just like mixed better.

3. Tight marking , well again , normal man marking seems to work.

4. Not really , at the end if Im playing long ball to hold onto the lead I might.

5. Don't need counter attack , you should be on the attack.
