Millie: I like the idea of an efficacious AI. We thus need to become more self-efficacious to counter it. The first stage of self-efficacy is the realisation that there are things you need to do to improve your own performance. Note, your own performance rather than blaming something else, i.e. the game!

i dont like the fact that you can concede 2 goals in injury time after having scored your 2nd yourself in the 90th minute at home with your world class top of the table side against bottom of the table charlton, mid season, with them scoring straight from kickoff both times without so much as a tackle from your team!!!
name a time when that has happened irl...?
plus people from si have already said that luck plays a part in the game when in reality, luck is impossible to impliment and is therrefore just a disclaimer to the fact that your gonna getting ****ed over a barrel from time to time and your just gonna have to lump it!!
P.S. it is still possible to play just 1 tactic all season home and away and win everything without tweaking a thing! ive just done it!
but that was in one sitting! as we all know as soon as you start anew the next time you load your good form goes right out the window! eg, i went to 31st game of season without defeat in EPL reloaded next day and drew 3 lost 3 of my last 7 games!!! go figure!! this also needs addressing as it happens everytime i reload and totally ruins the experience! (only noticable because it happens every single time with me!)

i have to agree with the opening post, i have been successful with all teams playing this and its actualy quite easy, however in order to do this i had to accept that football manager is just an over complicated game of scissor paper stone where we have to counter the ai regardless of what players the ai has at its disposal. people used to complain about previous versions because all u had to do was buy quality players and set them out in a decent way. but guess what, thats football

| That is one of the stupidest things said in a thread of stupid things. Congrats.

This thread is certainly enjoyable!
I have to agree with Millie, people should stop blaming the game for their own inadequacies.

Inadequacies? please don't post unless you have something useful to say you idiot. I take it your one of the ones who plays 12 hours a day and therefore has worked out the "inadequacies" to use your gay word, of the game.

Hi paulowen,
I am a casual gamer, I do not agree that this game is impossible and I do not agree that this game takes someone who plays the game for days on end to have success.
I believe that this is the best FM/CM game to date. I don't think the game is perfect, there is room for improvement, but the game enjoyable and the tactics do not have to be complicated at all.
Why not take your own advice and don't post unless you have something useful to say.

| I don't play as much as you seem to think, Paul. In fact, I've been playing relatively little of late due to exam preparation and essay deadlines. Even when I was playing it solidly, I'd only play 3 or 4 hours in a good day, and I've only ever completed around 12 seasons in the game.
That's not that many, really. Especially when you consider that some people will do that on a single save.
The idea that you have to play for hours on end to get any success at the game isn't true. You just have to spend some time getting to know how it works and learning from your mistakes, not expecting success straight out of the box. As I've said many a time, I've never won the Champions League on FM06 or 07, and I've won relatively little in all of my games. However, I would say that I've had a good deal of success relative to the clubs I've managed.
Now, maybe in your eyes I've played a hell of a lot, and maybe you're right. However, I don't consider it a lot, and even if I'd had a full time job I think I would have played the same amount. The difference is I play it in long bursts then put it down for a few days rather than regularly for an hour or so a night.
Just because you have got to understand something doesn't mean you've put a lot of hours in. My history degree will atest to that. |

| And in what way is your post useful?? I don't even play 12 hours a week at the moment, let alone 12 hours a day. You don't need to play that much to be successful at the game, and you don't need to call me an idiot, I was just stating my opinion like anyone else on this board, I wasn't starting a personal vendetta as you seem to be doing. At the end of the day, if you don't enjoy the game, then don't play it. Simple.
