I would definitely agree with the opening post.
It's too difficult in my opinion. With a side like Everton I used to be able to turn them into a side that could potentially win the league if I had a good season.
Forget that on this version. The game seems to be setup so that the only way you can win is by countering what the Ai team does. Get it wrong in the slightest possible way and you get absolutely slaughtered. Are you seriously telling me that Premier League teams spend all day building tactics to counter what Watford do?
It's all contrived overcomplicated bull. United for example against Everton played the same tactics with the same players and the same way as they have played all season. And they won. They didn't go countering what Everton did.

agreed. Way too musch emphasis on small niggling tactical factors. Yes the game should be realistic, but not at the expense of fun. After all this is a game not real life (contrary to what some may think )

and people who are saying it is more realistic than 2k7: it is next to impossible to get man-marking to work in cm04, yet it must work in real life as lots of teams have success with it. 2k7 may have a way to go but it is LOTS more realistic than previous versions, including tactically (especially tacically, even).
if you want a simpler game that is easier to win, i have a suggestion:
1) find a computer with DOS.
2) play ONE-NIL, it was fun and dirt-simple.

fm2007 is probably the most realistic fm yet. You will really struggle with crappy players and you must put emphasis on learning and countering everything thrown at you. At times it does get very boring in the sense that u must micro manage everything but i guess that's what being a manager is all about. If you want an easy game then go back to fm2005 and some of the "diablo" type tactics. The rewards from succeeding in fm2007 are so much sweeter though. You feel a sense of accomplishment when u actually win, especially if playing with ur own tactics.

The best footy management game so far, because it functions well, and is not easy to play.
I get bored of a game when the challenge goes, so this has the <ok> factor

I frigging hate this 07 game.
Cant stop playing it mind you. Im going to be breaking things soon though i think, its SO frustrating!!
I am one of these crazy people that think a game being realistic is GREAT but only to a certain point - cause after all this isnt real life now is it? Thats why we call these things games! I mean for example, imagine how frustrated the Medal Of Honour community would get if they released a game where if you took a bullet to the head you died right away or something, or you couldnt drink some magical medicinal drink from the floor (yeah, i know....we all come across these helpful health giving tankards on the floor, right kids?).
See what i am trying to say?
I hope so!
I do love this game, but its an amazing pain in the arse.

loads of people love it because they say it's the most realistic. There's nothing realistic about Watford going to 424 and scoring 2 in the last 5 mins at Anfield. The game is much harder and for someone like me who just doesn't have the time to keep tweaking tactics during matches it's not enjoyable.
I don't want a magic tactic but i would like a tactic to work for more than one game. I beat Man U 2-1 at home and then lost 3-0 to Villa with the same tactic. 0 shots on goal.
This happens quite alot and i've noticed players make alot of mistakes in the game. The game seems harder after the patches came out too.
In summary there is just too much detail for someone who doesn't have much time to play the game. Again I like the fact that it's not too easy but it is hard not realistic!

On the other hand though, can you see yourself sitting there boasting about winning the league with Aston Villa after moving one player up the pitch a little in your tactics screen and blasting Man Utd 4-0 after having them roll over and put their tail between their legs because of Tony Daily or Dalian Atkinson?
Come on, its there for the taking, okay so im losing a little hair - some say that be a good thing. How do you mean you dont have time to tweak your tactics? You have time to play it and sit and watch the games, therefore you must have the time to tweak!!!!!
PS - Ricky Otto rules!!!!!
PPS - I have no idea why i said that last bit
