I just want a tactic that works most of the time

Ive tried a couple and whilst they work for a few matches they seem to go sour.

If anyone can recommend a tactic to try please post a link. Im not intersted in anyones pet theories etc, I just want a simple tactic for chelsea

ps.I dont want patronising comments from the unofficial FM police that seem to patrol here giving me patronising comments telling me to 're-read' 16 page threads, or 'put more effort in' to tactic buildings or similar comments that a teacher might make to a 12 year old

I always find that the default 442 is a good way to start- it also works well in breaking bad runs in my experience.

Good thing also is that as the tactic seems to depend on players being able to make decisions (as everything is pretty neutral) then its one tactic that improves as your personel do.

One thing I change with it though is to change the MCs to mixed forward runs- meaning you can just stick a DMC/MC/AMC in and they will tend to make runs and position themselves depending on their position.

@Churchy. Thanks I tried that but it wasnt any great shakes for me

@George. Aha! Ive never bothered with the default formations. I assumed they were all crap! I'll try the 442 with your adjutsments, thanks

They used to be but iirc SI put a lot of work into improving the default tactics for 07.

It seems to work best for me when my normal tactics start to get stale (team reranked, tactics sussed whatever) and invariably if I choose the normal 442 I win the next game as it seems to reboot my team.

Although imo it shows how unrealistic the game can be as it shows how you sometimes just have to arbitarily chance your tactic to get going again as tactics are much more important that the personel you have- which imo is wrong, especially with the evidence of people like Cleon winning the EPL with Sheff Utd (?) in their first season etc.
