1. How do I play the ball on the ground?
My strikers, midfielders are all short, so I do not want balls played in the air. I have tried short passing with a slow tempo with no success! I have tried decreasing CF but they still hit the balls upfield all the time.
2. How do I make my GK pass the ball instead of kicking it upfield?
I notice most of the time its my keeper kicking the ball upfield. 60% of his passes are kicking it upfield. I have tried making him "defender collect" option but he passes to the defender, defender passes it back to him and he kick it upfield. Defeats the purpose totally.
3. How do I prevent silly mistakes happening?
I have ALOT of mistakes in my game. In every game, at least 3-5 players makes mistakes. Some do not lead to goals, but I always get the commentary that "this player" should get the blame if it had went in. How do I prevent it? Reducing CF? Tried. Reducing Mentality? Tried.
4. I play a 4231 formation. A flat 4 defence, 2 MC, 2 AMR/L and 1 AMC and 1 striker. The AMC is right footed and so is the striker. I noticed that the AMC is always on the right side while the SC is on the left. I want them to play in the centre. How can I do this?
5. What kind of passing is good?
I have played the game and have noticed that only short passing with slow tempo gives high possession and a high passes completion rating. What kind of other passing gives that too?
Please help! I am at a loss on the tactical side of FM and I dunwant to rant.
When you play an attacking mentality your players always look to play an offensive ball even if they have to boot it, so lower the mentality and if they do not have a forward pass they will pass back. I would say use a short, slow passing style if you want to keep it on the floor. You have to remember your players will still sometimes do high/long passes because they have there own AI, if they see a pass which they think would be better then making a short pass like you stated they will go for it. You can decrease the risk of this happening by lowering there creative freedom.

Personally, I like also to keep my defenders on shortish passing or they tend to play it in the air into the midfield, rather than build up a pasisng play from the back.
I have already tried that. Playing a short passing with slow tempo.
Guys, do u think if a sole striker gets 7-10 headers per match is considered playing the ball on the ground or in the air? I was thinking maybe 7-10 headers per match is considered little.

Yes, it is rather playing the ball on the ground. I play Mixed-to-Slow Tempo and Mixed-to-Short passing, and my TM usually has around 20 headers. Keeping ball down does not mean your players will never attempt air pass.

- Creative freedom normal, tempo normal, passing direct, target man passing 'run on to ball', metality slightly defensive.

-Set passing to short, defender collect and ultra low creative freedom and ultra defensive.

-Reduce tempo and pass direct.

-Set Striker to targetman with no creative freedom and no free roling. Same with AMC except with alot of creative freedom and set both players to Attack.

-I play direct passing with slow or normal tempo BUT I set the Mentality to defensive. Gives me alot of ball time, alot of pressing power and alot of decision making time. Plus I have a few pacey and creative players that turno on the pace and creativity when the are two or three passes away from a goal.
Have u even tried what u said?
For pt 4, your answer doesn't work.
Thanks anyway. Refreshing to hear someone playing with direct passing rather than short or mixed.
